Orion Quickset Lathe replacement bit
I'm looking for a replacement bit for one of these lathes but am having trouble finding anyone that sells them in the UK.
I found mcmaster-corr sells the one I'm after (AL4) but they won't ship inernationally
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Chris

I can't seem to find anywhere that sells a carbide bit though ? they all seem to be diamond ones, which I don't want

Not sure what your particular reasons for not wanting a diamond bit are but I have this lathe with a diamond bit from Carter Diamond Tool and it has been a great purchase.

Chris,
Sorry I didn't realize you were after a carbide bit.
I don't know if this will help you, but you might want to look up a company called "Peatol" who sell the Taig line of micro lathes there in the UK. Through them, or possibly through someone they can point you too you ought to be able to find a carbide AL4 bit. The Taig lathes use the same size tool bits as our comm lathes.

No real reason I don't want diamond other than cost. Don't want to go and spend a load on a bit and then chip it
I'm new to using lathes still.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll try and find those companies

Peatol do a set of bits for this, but I only need a left hand one, they sent me on to someone else who doesn't do 6mm bits (1/4") only 8mm
