Default Who's giving you advice..

So who's givng you advice. and who,s advice should you take.

are you getting information for a seasoned hobbiest.
Or some knowall(not) kid with a high post count...

Sometimes its hard to tell whether its word of mouth mith that a mate of a mate tried an was really radical dude..

Or was it tried and perfected and done by an experiancd trades man.?(machinest, toolmaker, electrionic tech, engineer or rc industrie person)

Or has the advice been recycled from atoher post for his look at me post count.?
Do you only use advice from people you know in the hobby.??

I find rctech to be an awsome tool in gathering info about topic's i'm not familure with, but on the way you see some bizzar info.......

I think that McSmooth is lightly seasoned, with just a hint of paprika and dash of garlic.

Actually, I just ask some of the fast gays at the Gate.

I just make it up as I go. No need to ask questions from other 14 year olds.

If I have an important question, I'll post of several forums from the UK and this one and speak to experienced racers trackside.
I also have a very good local hobby shop, one of the guys who works there makes UK National A-Finals etc in different classes/types of racing.

Never get all your advice from just one person.

The 'average' of all the answers should be somewhere near what you want

Advice like opinions are like assholes, some are just bigger than others.....

Equipment:

Lets see.... The "Pro" racer... He's gonna tell how great his sponsors stuff is and that every other vendor is not as good....

The local fast guy... See above but not as vendor specific.....

The race track/hobby store... They carry only the best inventory....

Your friends... The full monty of why the stuff they are using is better than the rest of your firends...

Setups and racing: Pros and factory Unless you are on their skill level the setups they use might be the best for you.....

Local fast guy... See above....

The best advice I can offer is this.....

PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE....... Ask about they setups and tips on what to change as what the track conditions are but everyone has their own driving style.....

And as I put this to a new racer where I race... Jamie Hanson was running and he said he wanted to copy his setup.. I bet him that if Jamie and he switched cars and not change anything for a 5 minute race that Jamie would beat him by 10 laps... He said of course he would he's a better driver......
He got the message.........

Agreed.

Of course the internet let's everyone be an "expert" from time to time so how do you give credibility to an online "expert?"

1) Grammar. Usually the more knowledgeable individuals will take the time (read: be able) to use proper grammar.

2) Tone. Truly helpful people don't usually sound egotistic or condescending.
