Default Run Time + Gearing ??

HI guys was wondering if anyone can offer some experience.

Am new to electric racing and was wondering if anyone can tell me a few things, I have a HB Cyclone S and a ratio of 2.473 running 81 Spur and 52 Pinion and a roll out of 51mm. We run on a large track using silver cans and limited to 1500mah nicads. I race against Tamiya TA05/416 etc, T2's, Yoko's, TC4's etc

Am looking to make some changes to get better acceleration and a bit more speed and runtime (I only have about half a lap left in the batts after a run), I don't keep up off the start line and don't seem to have the legs on the back straight, I don't think its going to be easy though!

1. If I lower the internal ratio to 2.16 will this give me better acceleration?

2. With an internal Ratio lowered to 2.16 I can still run the same rollout of 51mm would my runtime remain the same/less/more?

3. Would a front spool save speed/runtime?

4. Are thier any tricks to getting more runtime?

Thanks in advance!

3. Spool gives you better braking, slower on turns compared to one way so I guess runtime will be almost the same as diff but less than one-way
4. Charging with less Amp, use less timing (everything costs speed though )

dont run 51mm rollout!,

run 45 - 48mm
51 is to high

No! changing internal ratio but then adjusting gearing back to get 51mm will just end up the same in terms of the load on the motor .

people who say otherwise dont really have a clue in my opinion

i ran 540 silver can for ages on large outdoor track , i tryed 50-51mm for a long time, and you are better of freeing up the drive train / bearings etc, and running around 47mm , trust me!

Excellent, great to get some ideas, I will try the suggestions and experiment a bit,

Is it true if you charge at a higher rate you get more punch? does it make much difference on a Silver Can?

I will look at lowering the ratio and rollout and see what happens.

All ideas appriciated!
