Default OVAL RACING ...

Just wanted to let the world know - RC OVAL RACING does still exist, and is gaining strength again...

The Brushless Motors and now with LIPO batteries - racers are finding it FUN to do oval again w/o the hassel of fighting aginst FACTORY Team Drivers having the huge advantage in HORSEPOWER.

Our travelling oval series in Southern California is seeing drivers that are excited more than ever about racing...and we've got some that have been racing well over 20 years who have said it's NEVER been so much fun as now.

The Mid-West has the "BRL" Brushless Oval Series that is setting that region on fire, drawing close to or over 100 entries for thier first event of their season this weekend.

I bring this thread up due to a 1/8th scale nitro driver who was on hand yesterday at our OVAL event on a 250 meter Bicycle Velodrome in Southern Cal. who said he's been racing several years...and NEVER heard of OVAL Racing -

BRL is coming to our track in February. Even though I don't race oval, I'm looking forward to checking it all out while they're in town.

Thumbs up

Hi SWTour

I have been racing oval here in Denmark from 1990 till 2000 but
our bicycle Velodrome is no longer existing.
I would like to hear more, what speeds are You making at 4/5 minutes heats, (Avg speed for 1 round) and also what speeds do You get if You make Speed-Run (Avg speed) with unlimited cells?

Looking forward to hear from You

Soeren Boy Holst
Still the fastest guy in Europe since 1999
125,88 Km/h Avg speed

Our Velodrome is a 250 meter track. Our MODIFIED Class is currently in a transition period and we are using unlimited Brushed and/or Brushless motors w/ 4 cells, or they can use the ORION 3200 LIPOs with a NOVAK 10.5 motor.

With either of these combos they are running a fast 32 laps in 5 minutes, with an average lap time just under 9.5 seconds per lap. (That should work out to about 94.7KmH I believe)

We don't do a lot of "Insane" type runs, but the most recent ones I believe the fast laps are in the low 8's.

You can read more about our VELO race this past weekend at www.southwesttour.com

(Short Video coming soon - or you can watch the video from **ALLSTAR-SHOOTOUT** held during the summer. That's at www.allstar-shootout.com )

What's up Joe? It's Nick Sava. Been a long time dude. I'm real glad to see the Tour is doing well over there. I miss running that. It'd be even more fun now with the brushless stuff. I remember trying to run modified before, all I did was cut motors and spend a lot of money.

hey guys....I am in south Florida, and would like to get oval going down here. I am part of a group that runs an on road track, so we could hold FLAT oval, and our track is 142'x72'. There is also a banked oval in Ft Lauderdale that isnt being used....so, except for ROAR, is there an organization in which rules allow brushless, and is being run all over. That way we can possibly hold Regionals and Nationals around the country.

There is a lot of OVAL racing in Florida

Mike Boylan (SNOWBIRDS) is involved with a track in or around Orlando I believe.

There is a florida based series called FOCARS also, Bill Sell is who directs that series.

Being from Calif. I don't know how that shakes out with your area...but I'd check them out
