Default What do I need to know about brushless?

Hi I am about to make the change to brushless!! I am trying to follow all threads about any kind of brushless but basically whats going to be the best speedo and motor combo?

I think I am only ever going to race 27 turn stock and 19 turn pro stock

And does anyone have any idea what way the BRCA will go in the UK??

Any help greatly appreciated

(I am swaying towards the Novak GTB Spread Spektrum & 13.5 Sintered)

If you go to BRCA Touring Cars section your see proposals for next year.

Looking at alot of USA posts, most prefer the LRP 13.5 brushless,
more punch and top speed.

Myself I will be getting the LRP 13.5 and 9.5 for 19 turn class.

im still new to brushless but ill share wot i have learnt. i run GTB and 13.5 sintered. with the sintered rotor you have to gear the car way taller than if you were runnin 27t. with 27t i would run for my local track a fdr of 7.34. i now run 4.73.. wot i would suggest is starting off short geared and at the end of the race take a temp reading off the motor as soon as you pull the car off the track as brushless motors, do not like any temp higher than i think 170F. so basically i gear buy motor temp. just keep going up in gear size until you hit a bout 140f straight after a race to stay on the safe side

i found the novak is cheaper than the LRP. and from my experiace faster as i think the lrp is not sintered its bonded.

hope this helps

If you think of a brushless motor like the old Trinity P2k2's.. those were torque motors, so you had to gear them up higher to equalize gearing a motor with RPM. Brushless are major torque. In stock sedan, i went from gearing 30ish pinion with a 116 spur in a 007 to a 108 with a 39 pinion! or from a 27mm'ish rollout to 40mm!

all your brushed stuff will be taken by you, and thrown, voluntarily, in the garbage

that is a very hard one to answer, at the moment the current points leader is running brushed and her an my car speed is exactly the same.also she is a super consistant driver. her dad builds the motors and he knows his stuff on brushed motor building(tips and tricks). i have got my car geared so after 5mins of racing the motor is 140f. theres still room to gear up more and in the near future i will do so, so i am confident that it may well be faster yes.

if you get the gtb set up make sure you read the instuctions cover to cover...re.... motor temps, as ambient temp will play a part in how hot your motor gets too.
