Default New type of IB 42000's....

I heard from our local cell matcher today that IB are just about to release a new 4200 cell labeled something like X-1 or something similar. Has anyone else heard of this?

Sorry to respond to this thread in a negative way, but so what.

I started running Orion 3200 LiPo's for club racing and won't swap back to NiMh unless a race I attent won't allow LiPo.

Wow Im surprised that it took 2 posts and 25 minutes for someone to bring LIPO up....something must be going on today. Did all the Lipo lovers go on Vacation some place.....? J/k

How many times have the IB's changed with out a shrink wrap update that we know of? If there is a new IB cell Im sure SMC will be saying something about it shortly. If it is new wrap will that have to be ROAR approved again? Also why would IB bring out a 4200 cell when isnt the trend to come out with higher cap cells? So wouldnt a 4400 or something like that be more in line with a new cell?

42000's? WOW talk about runtime! This is going to blow lipo out of the water. But how long will they take to charge? 10 hours?

It's going to take some work for them to win back the good will of the customers burnt by the last batch of cells. I'll stick with EP's (and LiPo) I think.

I think those are the WC cells branded for the Japanese market?

Just make sure the batteries are facing backwards so when they blow-up you get the extra boost from the flames.

Intellect constantly tweaks the cell chemistry from lot to lot. If you bought IB4200WC's two months ago they are not the same cells you can buy today. The goals of the latest changes are durability not voltage or run time.

I wanted to point out that the title amazed me

Anywho, I have yet to put one of those in my car. I can only imagine until I have enough free time/ money for those cells.

*drools*

And although LiPo may be amazing and all, there's something vintage about Nickel based cells that I like
