Hi all,

I am looking for a website (or information) that best describes how to best charge and discharge based on kind and manufacture, overall expectations of charging batteries, and how to take care of your batteries?

I'm a noobie on the information I should be looking at. (i just have been in a play and charge method) Not really knowing how to get the most out of my packs. What peak voltage is good or bad? How many mAh a pack should take? How to figure out the IR of a pack? Good temp for a pack? All that good stuff.

You have some pretty open ended questions. I say that because anyone who races RC knows that if they go to a track they will get 400 different stories or methods to charge and discharge batteries. the SMC link above is a good place to start.

What I would do is call the manafacturer that you bought the batteries from (Orion, SMC, etc) and talk to a tech guy and they will gladly give you all the info that you need. You are going to find that you will get different information from manufacturers as well. You have to decide what is best for you and your batteries and your budget.

i.e. I charge my Team Orion HV !B4200 cells at 5.5 amps. I discharge at 30 amps and then I equalize my packs with a tray before chargin again.

One suggestion that I can recommend and it is universal. when you are done racing at the end of the day and if you are not going to charge the batteries again until next week, I will discharge the batteries and then charge them for about 10 minutes and then place them in my pitbox. It is always a good idea to leave a charge in your 4200's if you are not racing until the following week. '
