Pit help
 

I need some help on what I need to get for racing. It has been about 10 years since I seriously raced and getting back into it with a TC5. I have basic tools and a nice set of allens from AE but I would like to get a nice setup that will get me by for quite some time but at the same time not break my bank like the Much More stuff. I don't want the cheapest but would like it to be effective and reliable. I plan on running brushless so i wont need motor lathes but what is good or a must have now?

Forgot to mention I'm looking at spending under $500 on getting my pit fully operational to race equipment wise.

Other than the Sodering iron most of the stuff is fairly reasonable to afford...

Instead of buying a setup board, ride height gauge, camber, and toe gauges, you should look into an inexpensive setup station such as the integy. I put my car on the setup station after every run. A dremel tool is very handy to have around aswell as shoo goo.

You probably don't -have- to buy a $100 soldering iron when first getting started.

What soldering equipment would you reccomend? I bought a weller station a while ago but I can't get it hot enough to solder my battery bars on. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, I don't know. Latley I've been considering that Hakko station. I use one at the local track and it's very nice.

I've been using a Weller SP40L for years now without any trouble, even for soldering batteries. I'm not saying the Hakko isn't by far superior, but for someone on a budget, it seems like a luxury item. He didn't mention what kind of batteries or motors he'll be using. That can make a difference in how much you solder. I don't even bring mine to the track anymore.

I have an 80w weller that I have never had an issue soldering packs with. I use a 25w weller for my smaller wires on circuit stuff. Also already got the allens for my kit along with the dremel. I think I just need some advice on chargers, dischargers, equalizers, and setup stations unless I'm forgetting something. Oh yeah a light as well.

I'm biased due to me still working on other things that require a good iron...very true the high dollar Hako is "not needed" . A $7 weller will work

I paid around $30 for my 80w weller

I've had a few differnt irons... I've had the Hakko for a year now.. And I regret wasting time on anything else!
