fhubbard - What do you mix with the VHT. I plan to use it for the next racing season.

Modena AL - You mix it with gasoline. It really isn't used as a direct application to the tires of your car, but more so as a additive on the surface of the track. Also, this was when all that was being raced were direct drive cars (pan cars).

BigAn- What surface do you plan on running the tires on? Respond with a surface and I'll respond with what I would try.

BigAn, on ozite I've been using Sorex 24's with HPI green inserts on front, Sorex 20's with HPI red inserts on rear. I coat the whole rear tire with TQ Purple, and the inside 1/3 of the front with TQ Purple. Alot of guys use HPI red inserts all the way around, but I've already got a little too much steering. I might try it anyways, on my next set.

Modena Al - VHT bottle instructions say to mix with methanol alchohol. I don't think you would want to use gasoline because of the oily residue it might leave on the track surface. When I had my own track (Loki Raceway in El Cajon, CA), I always used the methanol, it evaporates almost as fast as you spray it so you don't have to close the track for spraying. Also, the methanol has a sweet odor that is easier on the nostrils. It is more flamable though.

Has any one tried Orion/JB Foam inserts? What are your thoughts?

Racerdave: I have tried the JB foams (blue) with the following results: I tried them because they were so light feeling in the package and a couple of racers were using them with decent things to say about them. Upon installation, one of the inner pieces of foam pulled apart and had to be glued to the wheel. No real problem other than nominal hassle. They otherwise mounted up fine and worked pretty well for about 20 or 25 minutes and then the foam started bunching inside the tire. While I do not dislike them and would use them again in a pinch, the hassle of the two pieces and the bunching problem will steer me to another type of foam if possible. I would be interested in knowing of others had similar experiences when they tried them. Happy New Year!!

623B, we have been using the JB's here in Kansas and Oklahoma with great results. We race on an indoor concrete track. You didnt say if you glued the inner ring to the wheel. If you didnt, I am sure that is where the bunching problem lies. Go to Team Orions website, they have instructions on how to build the inserts. They work great and are much lighter!

BigAn- I would try HPI's greens and blues for carpet. Also, you might want to try Sorex's new firm insert out if it ever hits the shelves. Hope this helps.
