I read Xtreme RC cars. it's more informative than RCCA
plus it's got the Babe of the month...

hey just thinking of up dating my current pro4 to either the hb car or the '05 spec pro 4. so i was just wondering if the new '05 pro4 is avaliable yet?? if so where from?
also how long until the hot bodies cyclone is avaliable?

is it worth the wait for the hb car?

i got my '05 from rc-champ.co.jp, it was around 42000 yen with a titanium screw kit. i think rc-mushroom or rc-model also have the '05 in hk. tower and the usual sites have the hara kit in stock at the moment...

japan '05 has 2mm main chassis, one piece bevel/input shafts front/rear, and a one-way.

hara has the regular 2.5mm main chassis, different input shafts again (no bevel, but 6g lighter than standard and the rear one is a one piece input shaft/spur adaptor), and it comes with a spool. the hara also comes some other options (pivot blocks, sway bars?)

I think thats the main difference between the 2 kits.

I've actually ordered the hara input shafts for my '05 as the one piece bevel/input shafts were causing a fair bit of binding in the drivetrain, if I ran mod I wouldnt be too concerned but as I run stock I want it as free and smooth as possible... however, I haven't received the hara ones yet so I can't give a comparison...

the hara input shafts are the ones i posted pics above. honestly i dont know why people would want the '05 rear input shaft, doesnt make sense to me to sacrifice integrated spur gear adaptor to get integrated bevel gear. esp since the weight must be very close, then again on the hara shaft you could replace the steel screw that holds the bevel gear on with an aluminum screw, then the hara shaft would HAVE to be lighter!
idk does anyone break rear bevel gears?

on the hara you get all the pivot blocks (reg pro4 in usa already comes with all swaybars and castor blocks). not sure if hara comes with the pivot block shim kit or not. on the hara they put in the spool which saves them mad money over the oneway and then made up the price diff with pivot blocks!

basically i'd buy whichever one has the chassis that i want, since you can change the input shafts and spool/oneway over for less than the cost of the chassis.

I've been thinking of getting a touring car and am leaning towards the pro4. Is the 2mm chassis really needed for asphalt(local track is a small outdoor asphalt track) or would I be fine with the stock chassis?

I know the locals run a front diff but I'm not sure what chassis they run. They didn't mention needing a different chassis(just the diff), so I'm guessing they run the stock chassis. I'm just curious how much difference it would really make for a new guy to touring car.

Thanks

SD
we all use the stock chassis all you need to do is the upper deck mod we will show you how and the front diff and a set of white springs and you will be good to go. Oh and AE diff screws.
