4 cell pan with a touring body would be the best entry level or spec racing...

The thing was awesome. It handled excellent, agressive but smoothe, extremely durable and easy to setup. I really enjoyed it.

The car was just a prototype with no real plans of following through but i gotta say, I want another one. It was a ton of fun. I would love to see the class come back
I think you hit the nail on the head with this one by making it 200mm's. I'd buy your 200mm pan car without question. But instead of touring bodies I'd like to see American Le Mans Series GT2 sports car bodies run on the cars. That would be sweet.

IMO, as for the why pan cars aren't run anymore I think it's because Touring just took over in the late 90's. If I recall correctly, Tamiya came out with the TA01 in the mid 90's. Other high-end manufacturers (Yokomo, HPI) started to make high-end 4wd cars. A 4wd chassis with a realistic car body just seemed more appealing to me than a wide a$$ 1:10 scale pan car.

But that's not what they are anymore...

i'd still like to see pics of it.. how do you get the lipo down the middle with the shock mount there?

I will get some pics of it up here this week. If there is a demand,i will do a short run of them. It was alot of fun and it was cool to see it run. It was pretty quick with a 10 turn. I would say just as fast as a mod 6 cell TC but handled better. The tire wear was next to nothing and the cost to run was much less. I really think 4 cell with 10.5 brushless would be a killer class.

To mount the lipo down the center, what we did is make a bridge that captures the lipo and used a ballstud that is a nut and secured it with a flathead screw from the underside of the C/F bridge. I think it will work real well and with the battery being down the center, it allows you to add weight to each side of the pack towards the rear to get your steering back.

We really didnt want to go to 230mm because there really isnt many choices for bodies and they seem to be hard to find. We figured to be able to just run Nitro TC bodies would keep it simple and fun. We made the wheelbase a little shorter than a standard 230mm pan car to compensate for the loss of the 30mm and it seemed to work as planned. The Lola bodies fit also but are ungodly ugly I will also be messing with seeing how it will work with rubber tires. I am not optimistic but hell, its not a big deal to go to the shop and spin out some parts. I have always loved to try different and oddball things. I doubt i will want to go that route after running it with foams this weekend. I will post some pics and i would like to get some feedback from you guys.

i forgot to mention, we used a TRF shock for the center shock. I had one from my 415 that i used. it didnt need side shocks. we used the standard 1/12th damper tubes that i make for our 1/12th car.

that's great looking! and i love the idea of 4 cell 19t/10.5.. it looks like what the speedmerchant "speed spec" wants to be when it grows up... how are you thinking to put rubber tires on it? you going to machine custom hubs? if you do, i know there are folks that would be interested in them for other narrow pan cars too.. before i widented my 10l3T to 235mm i wanted a set to try rubber, but the only adaptors ever made were by buds, and he no longer makes them and they never show up on ebay.. did you run it on carpet or asphalt?

I would make adapters to mount them.
