Hey Hanulec, why did you use high roll center cones on your LIPO set-up?

Will have 2 cars kitted up.
I've only run 17.5 1s with the car so far - hopefully a few others will chime in. in Vegas this year we "got away with" running jaco grey rears instead of the more traditional yellow or orange rears. out probably 12 runs of practice/qual/mains I only chinked one rear tires vs last year where I destroyed almost 1:2 of my rear tires.

front tire selection was dependant upon the driver, amount of glue in the sidewall and front spring setup in 17.5. dbl pink, lilac and black were popular.

check a few pages back or the rc excitement forum for the posted setup by Kenny, Joel, and timmah. the "farm team" hooked me up the weekend prior to Vegas and the only real setup changes when grip came up where:

- one level thicker tube spouge (lt -> med)
- slightly harder front tires (lilac -> black)

For 10.5 I'd recommend Dbl pink fronts and dbl pink rears. Hard to say for sure since I haven't really run it yet myself recently. But you will not be able to get away with a gray rear tire.

For the high RC cones in the back. Going to the rev5L you have less weight (lipo) and it is lower (pocketed chassis) so the higher roll center allows the car to throw the weight around. Guys that didn't get the lipo chassis and are running a rev 5 chassis are still running low roll cones.

Edit: Also I never changed my setup at all when grip came up. Same thing I ran at home worked money in Vegas. My base seems to be .018 fronts, dbl pink/gray. Only thing that really changes is spooge, glue and body based upon layouts, mainly chicanes.

OK I'm running in the Southwest Indoor GP in Tucson on Saturday. Rev5 is running very well, never finished lower than 3rd since Bruce put me on a new set-up. Track is very low grip. I'm using : Front Long/Long arms, .022 springs, green spooge, 6' caster, 1.5' camber, 0' toe. Rear low roll cones, Hot Bodies shock w/30wt and windtunnel black spring (falls between a blue and a gold), 0' droop, red spooge, .23 side springs just touching. Tires are 44mm mag front, 46mm orange rear. Protoform 12 slightly back. !7.5 with NIMH. Long straight to a sweeper, then hairpin- short straight, hairpin-short straight till you get back to the long straight. I'm am a very old fart going against factory b-teamers. Anybody got set-up ideas for me to try in tommorow's warm-up?

That looks like an asphalt setup, yes?

The RC Excitement Rev 5L thread can be found here:

http://rcexcitement.handruin.com/ind...?topic=6676.0j

There are some very good setups for 17.5T 1S included within.

I'd probably start by softening it up. Front springs to .018 w/green spooge on the kingpins, caster to 3.5 and camber to 1.5, middle middle, blue center, green spooge and .021 backed off, magenta and yellows (glue the bead well, and keep after it). Front wheels shimmed out .020, and standard shimming on the rear axle (1 and 3). Battery back, and low roll cones if you are using the Rev5 chassis. Make sure your shock is shimmed up in the front, or that you are using an old skool shock/antenna mount. We have also switched to the medium Kimborough servo saver, and use the holes close to the center.

Firm up your car if the traction improves. Again, this would be for low grip that takes its time building.

He said it was a slick track.. I was just trying to get him as much grip as possible without going to a greased track set-up.

Thanks to all for set-up suggestions. I ended up with:
.022 front springs, 6' caster, 1.5' camber, long-long, green spooge 0' toe.
Red center, .021 side just touching, low cones, battery back, 30WT,
1' droop, 3.5mm front, 3mm center, 4mm rear. Magenta fronts 2/3 sauce,
Orange rears full sauce, 1/2 hour. Speed 12 mounted slightly back.

Car was very good, but my driving isn't what it used to be. Qualified 7Th without getting a totally clean run. Made a great start and lead the first 5-6 laps, then bobbled and the freight train went by. Eventually ended up where I started, 7Th. Kinwald won. I turned some very good laps but couldn't string enough of them together. Still I was very, very happy with the car, best I've run. Thanks again.
