Default What is in your pits

I am wondering what do you guys reccomend for my pits, I am looking for a few things.

Fluorescent light - hopefully something durable, that folds. There is a paticular light that folds in half, But I can't remember the name of it, I see it in alot of pits though.

Car stand- maybe something with a fan and holes for the shocks to fit in so you can hav a place for the air to get out of them.

Charger Stand-

do you run a fan on your car / stand while it is the pits.

Pit bag / Case - I am thinking about the team magic, but have a hard time spending $200 on one right now.

Thanks and links would always be welcome.

The light you are looking for is called the Ott-Light. I have had mine since 1999 and I'm still on the original bulb. I think you can find them at Target of online somewhere. They are a little pricey, but well worth it.

The light is an Ott light. I use a CarbonMan carbon fiber charger stand. Holds 2 ICE chargers. PM CarbonMan for more info. I think its $30. For the bag save your money and get the Team Magic F8 bag. Its seriously worth the $200. I use the integy fan / stand. Works well enough. Definately cools the electronics quickly on a hot summer day.

The F8 bag is seriously awsome! I know that Trinity is selling the bags real cheap, getting rid of invetory of all the F8 bags they have in stock. The bag is listed in there liquidation sale on the site...

The Ott Light is great, but can be a bit "pricey"... Locally, I've found a light at Wal Mart and at Lowes that "looks" cheaper, but works almost as well -- and it cost around $10... (they are kind of ugly -- all plastic "cylindrical" shape, in white, blue, or black, but less money on pit equipment is more money on go-fast goodies!)

Another Wal Mart or Lowes type of item is a white metal stand I found -- it's about 20" wide and about 10" deep, with fold under legs about 10" long. It folds almost flat for transport, but on the pit bench, I set it up, and I can put my charger(s) under it and set two 10th scale vehicles up on top of it, doubling my pit space... It was in the shelving department as a kitchen/bath "organizer" but it really is nice for what I use it for...

I normally just use the little foam stands for my cars when they are sitting, but I have one from Trinity that has a fan under the sedan's motor -- I hook it up to an old GP3300 pack, and it runs all day long at the track without the need for a big power supply or anything, and it really helps cool the motor after a race on a hot parking lot. I found mine on eBay, so it didn't cost much, and the battery pack is an old one the wasn't even good enough for practice, but I still get use out of it this way...

I feel you do need one of the stands that has a rotating top plate, so that you can turn the car around while working on it -- even something as simple as cleaning/prepping tires is much easier when you can just spin the car on the stand... I only need one of these, even when running multiple classes because I only work on one car at a time...

Don'f forget the soldering iron

Hakko 936 is the most common soldering station you will see in the pits bigemike.

I have got the soldering station covered, I have an industrial weller I bought at a local radio shop, it does great. Really similar to the hakko and I picked it up local, and they have tips in stock. I am still thinking about the bag, I might call them and see if I can get a better deal.

The F8 is the bag to get. It can fit two cars and all your stuff easily.

Wow $155 is a steal for the F8 bag. Id jump on that while you could (and anyone else who needs a bag). Im almost tempted to get a second one for that price.

Default what about a discharge tray

What is the best discharge tray, I would like something that I can:

1. dump at 20-30amp to .9v per cell
2. equalize the pack down to zero volts per cell.
