I hope you mean an 84 spur, for I doubt anyone does a 48 that I am aware of.

The rotor is the center portion of the motor, made up of the center shaft and the surrounding magnetic material.

the original SS4300 (purple center band) came with a bonded rotor (weaker magnets, more easily damaged by heat).

The 10.5 Pro (purple center band) came with a sintered rotor (STRONG magnets, much less affected by heat, and much more torque).

The 10.5 EX (gold center band) has the bonded rotor...

The gearing is MUCH different for the bonded rotor than it is for the sintered.

The brushless 4300 motors came stock with bonded rotors, so unless it has been swapped out, it is bonded. You want to have a final drive ratio of about 5.5 with rubber tire, plush or minus a pinion for that motor depending on track layout and how your brushless system is responding and your driving style. I'm assuming you may be unfamiliar with figuring out your FDR, so here's the equation- Spur gear divided by pinion times your internal gear ratio (not sure what the losi XXXS internal gear ratio is, refer to manual). Example: 88/27 x 1.83 (I'm just using this 1.83 number as an example of your internal gear ratio)= 5.96 which means you can still go up a couple of teeth (if the car has 1.83, probably doesn't). When you go up in teeth on your pinion, your final drive ratio will go down.

i cant tell you all i know is when it cam stock it was 88tooth spur 48 pitch with a 22 tooth pinion and i changed it from that to 88/25, then 88/27 and now 88/28. i took the 28tooth pinion off cause in oticed that it was wicked fast but the esc was getting really hot to the touch.

also here is a link to my car http://teamlosi.com/Products/Default...rodID=LOSA0287

picture of my motor and esc:
