i'm not too familiar with electric so i'm not sure how it brakes. but if it was me i would check to make sure the brake doesnt need to be cleaned. also check to make sure that nothing is rubbing when the brake engages. does it sound like metal on metal? do you smell anything after you brake?

Electrics brake by using slight reverse voltage pulses to the motor.... no manual brakes like nitro.......
