Just got the 3 racing alloy Ball Diff outdrives, they come with a little build diagram, and it does not show to use the .5mm shim that goes between the two 850 ball bearings. Tamiya's 416 manual says to use it in the original build, anyone know if i should use it anyway even with the 3 racing diff outdrives.

I've noticed the silvers can cook the tyres too. As Erick said thicker oil and/or softer springs will help. For some reason the blues are a lot kinder on the tyres even though they are barely any softer You can also play around with how you are gooping, try apply the MR goop 10 mins before you run and cook only for the last 5 mins @ 60deg

I wouldn't worry too much. If it slips then take it out, otherwise it's fine

TBH after using the spec R I can't see myself ever using a ball diff again. happy days

I tried to search but couldn't find any info. I'm in the process of purchasing some ceramic bearings and was wondering if anyone knew the size of 840 flanged bearing that's on the center pulley. 4x8x3?

Also the 850 bearing inside of the diff I assume is 5x8x2.5?

Do you think it's worth the money to have ceramic bearings inside the diff?

Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure every bearing in the car is 4mm wide. I wouldn't worry about ceramic bearings for the diff

Plenty of companies make ceramic bearing sets, just pick up one of those to take the guess work out

They are sold out of the FX deck though

Bad news from Japan today too, the 42182 416X upgrade set has been delayed until 25-aug

The delay may be a good thing if they have come up with an improvement I was waiting for mine too Wonder if the next incarnation of the TRF 416 will have a gear diff etc in it.
