How important is balancing the car left to right? I'm running brushless with an Orion 4800 LiPo and the car is light on the right side by quite a bit. I haven't mounted my transponder yet, but of course I'll mount it on the right side. I haven't weighed the car yet so I don't know if it's under weight, if it's not, should I add weight to balance it or just set tweek with the springs?

The 4800 is about half the weight of an IB42 pack, so you'll probably need to add in the region of 100-150g of weight.With my Carbon 3600's, I have 140g on the pack itself, and an extra 60g on the chassis. This is running 10.5 brushless (so heavier speedo, but lighter motor).
I find it best to mount the weight on the outside of the pack, as this also helps improve the side-side balance a bit.
Get it as close as you can, then tweak it on the springs... unfortuantly there isn't a lot of places to put weight to allow perfect balancing, but doesn't seem to affect the car.

Where should I gear my Orion 13.5?..rubber on carpet. I think I melted one this weekend trying the "4" FDR thing. Tried 4.2, 4.6 and ended up at 5.19 with a motor of 165 F. Seemed really slow. Any help would really be appreciated.
Cool 416 thing: rubber tires with a 96 spur, your pinion = rollout. Example, 38 pinion = 38.12mm rollout, 39 pinion = 39.13mm rollout...really easy to remember.

Anyone have suggestions for a very tight track on outdoor asphalt? The track is cleaned and prepped with sugar water. My 416 understeers pretty bad. My friends say it's the one-way(they all use ball diff). I had a similar issue with my 05MS, and the front ball diff made the car turn in a smaller radius. I have parts for a second diff on the way, but can anyone tell me why this is so?

i do have pretty bad front steering as well. i tried increasing front steering throw but the tires wears out faster than the rear 
so decrease steering throw to standard and increase front droop, and i added more negative toe and ended up with +0.5deg toe and the car is much better now. try more negative toe in your car, hopefully it helps.

our club hasnt got that much grip but what i do when i dont have front grip is to get the front caster to 2, then make the width of the front as small as possible and put some maybe 50 damper oil in the front when having 30 in te back to give som more aggressive initial steering... you can fine tune with your rear diff... putting it looser wil get more front grip when entering a corner and setting your rear diff tighter will keep the rear stable comming into a corner until you apply throttle... play around with the spring rates and rollcenters. but try to keep them about the same because when they differ too much it wil be realy off balance i noticed... so but track width and caster are the main things that worked realy good for me...

So I raced my 416 for the first time a few weeks ago with Rubber tires on CRC FastTrak Ozite carpet. Had a blast trying to figure the car out and racing it. However, after a weekend of practice, qualifying and mains I noticed the pulleys were turning black and the belts were getting gummy on the teeth and outside of the belt. Also, the belt guide was also getting gummy as well. It seemed to add some drag to the drive train.
I plan to take the whole car apart and clean the pulleys and belts as best as possible. Is there anything I can do to keep the gummy build up from happening?

I have raced at 3 different carpet track with rubber tire. I don't find everything getting gummy. But I do find a chunk of black fuzz or gum stuck in one of the pulley teeth from time to time. Is your car riding too low? What traction compound are you using?
