Is there a significant advantage in using the Tamiya Gear diff unit over the Spec-R units? I'd like to hear others' experience.

Less leak, more smooth. I'd put a tamiya diff in the rear and use an old spec r for front diff (if you use it). The spec r is still decent and when using putty/heavy oil, it wont matter much anyways.
Hey guys whats a good starting setup for the 416we?? I will be running 21.5 vintage class on a medium traction asphalt track.

What size 64p spur would I be looking at to get roughly a 3.5 FDR that fits well?

Either 82t spur with 48t pinion or 86t spur with 50t pinion
Hey does anyone know where I can find the tamiya 416 pivot block chart. One that describes what pivot block combination give you what for the front/ rear toe ect...

I'm stumped. New to the Tamiya and experiencing an issue with the 416x. This is my 2nd season doing on-road.
Running a Futaba 4pk with my epa set at 120 left and right but I am not even near full lock. On the Hudy setup station I have 15 degrees of steering each way. The steering will go to full lock freely with the radio off. If this is how 416x is, that's fine... or I just need more travel out of the radio (which I don't have).
Here's a couple pics.

I'm using an xray servo saver. I have about .75mm between the link and top deck. I just checked my bros tc6 has about 17 degrees...so its not too far off

It has to be the servo horn since it goes full lock without it. I heard it ran full lock and dual rate down to 80% in the past.

My Xray only has 17* my 416 has 15* with an xray servo saver on it, and i have never had a problem. The car has enough steering already really. If you need more steering when going through a corner you should just make an adjustment to the car to get that little bit extra.

I finally figured it out. I used the tallest hole on the xray servo saver and only running 2mm washers under the center link on the steeing rack. I have a hair over 17deg now.
