i use it on 11.5T BL motor with stock spec ESC. the packaging says it's for pro-stock only so i guess what you heard is true. i personally haven't tested it with mod motor. the gears are smaller so perhaps that contribute to durability issue in mod class.

Nice write up Craig! Good luck at SA!
The 3R diff looks like a better design than the Spec-R, in particular with the big chunky shims. The only thing I don't like are the aluminium outdrives which I think will wear a bit over time. The hardened steel outdrives on the Spec-R diff have very little wear, even in mod. The 3R price is pretty good though...

I pretty much always stick to 40-50wt oil (either the same all around, or 5wt heavier in the front). I either run 17lb springs all around (Tamiya White), or 19lb front (Serpent Orange), and 17lb rear (Tamiya White or Serpent Yellow). Track is outdoor asphalt, smooth. High to very high grip.

Before next race, I have lowered the front inner camber link, 700-500, gear diff. Still kinda up in the air on what else to do. I don't know much on how the 416 acts to changes yet, so I am just trowing stuff at it until it works.

I haven't tried the two back to back. Have you tried Gold's up front? If your bite is high enough running gold/silver will really increase your corner speed and the car should feel like it has more steering. If running Gold's make it feel pushy, like there is too much rear traction, use shims to raise your rear roll center another .5-1mm under the toe blocks.
