I don't suppose the 1-way in my TA05 IFS-R will work in the 416X?
I have a brand new 416 one way that came with my kit that I am never going to use. If you are interested, send me a PM.

I would recommend you try a spool a few practise evenings...

You will not have as much steering but
shouldn't be a porblem. Just dial more in
on your radio

You will have beter breaks and more
power out of the corners

just try the spool it works well in modified racing...

if not you have hard time cornering. as the momentum from the front wheel causes the car to skid.

You'll need to adjust how you get on the throttle coming out of the corner and going in.

At corner entry you need to stay in the throttle a little or the rear of the car can get out from under you. On corner exit if you slam the throttle you can whip the rear around causing it to get to loose so ramp the throttle a little slower.

Basically you'll learn how to drive much smoother and I guaranty you'll be faster by 2 to 3 tenths on average once you get the feel for it.

A spool will be frustrating up front but stick with it.

That's the first time I have had an explanation of the characteristics of a using a spool. Thanks!

What about wear and tear to the drive train and associated parts (dog bones, belts etc.)?

the good thing about one way diff it helps to gather momentum to the front wheels giving u extra push at long straights.... but i like to use one way diff in stocks.

for modified i prefer using the spools... much more comfortable that way. more easier to control the car at corners. but different people might have their opinions... what about yours?

Stock racing has become so fast now with all the new equipment that over here everybody now runs spool.

The advantage is that you can brake better and be more in control

Not sure what you mean, the main difference between spool and one-way is when you get off the gas...with a one-way the front wheels coast freely "independently" from the rear wheels when you get off the gas....when you give gas, you have 4wheel drive with both options...

..

Great information guys. I will be racing 17.5. With a 1-way, I had great steering, but no brakes. However, navigating a tight chicane felt easy to accomplish. It's been a while, though.

I'm looking forward to trying a spool.

My 416X was scheduled to be delivered by UPS today. However, because of the weather we have been having here in Maryland, I don't think I'll see it today. We haven't had regular mail since last Friday. Can anyone remind me what the Sun looks like.

A spool is a bit tough on the front drive train ( belt, SVD's Tires ) but with speed comes some sacrifice.

My first 416 is 2 years old and still going strong, only replaced one CVD (which was bent from a bad crash), done normal service (like replacing ball bearings), belt is still fine...
