Tamiya TRF416 / TRF416WE / TRF416X
#6526

I have some info on the 416X from Champ:
"Tamiya says this kit will be including newly designed lower deck (2.25mm thick), upper deck (2mm thick), front & rear lower bulkheads, motor mount, center bulkhead motor mount support and rear belt. This kit will be released around December."

New motormount bulkheads and side bulkheads, and just a new rear belt... points to the motor going forward. Think about it, if the bigger pulleys are also included, then if the layshaft goes forward, the current front belt could be retained, and just a new (longer) rear required....
So, possibly aiming to make a bit of an improvement to balance for LiPo, especially now IFMAR has gone LiPo. Also potentially better spur access.
Not sure on the lower bulkheads, maybe a refinment more than a compelty new mounting (thinking curvey bulkheads on the 415MS from the 415)... than again, could be completely wrong!!!

nooo, I just bought my WE in June
But then, I should have expected it. But I don't think the X will be worlds of difference than the WE. Will I get it? we'll see. maybe if it takes off .5 sec off my lap times
The economy isn't getting any better too you know...

Well, all done qualifying at IIC. I ended up 4th overall in amateur, and blew out in the last minute of my 13.5 run while charging for the top 15. I'm pretty bummed about that. I finally got the car to come around by going to 2.5 rear toe and shimming the rear blocks another .5 to 1 overall. I'm sure I'll get punted off the track tomorrow in the first turn.
That atomic company is showing off a gear diff for the 416.

i think it is some kind of 415 look alike
A, both belts are on one side
B, the motor mount looks odd

Any chance the new lower bulkheads are just the 2pc mounts? I kind of got the impression from discussions here that the TRF team hasn't tested anything other than those and the 20T pulleys, which were mostly because of the size of the Euros track. That seems to confirm what we've seen from pictures at recent big races at least. Before the WE was released, we saw plenty of pics showing them testing new parts.

The new rear bulkheads will most likely be with the diff moved back as tested/run by the TRF drivers recently. What the changes to the front and center bulks could be I have no idea.
Here are just some ideas of what I would've expected on the X
- rear diff moved back as mentinoned above
- separate susp. blocks FR & RF
- 20T center pulleys
- carbon steering brace?
- 46mm front driveshafts?
- chassis with battery further back again? (altough with lipos that wouldn't necessary be prefered)
That's what I speculated on until yesterday. But with the statement "newly designed lower deck (2.25mm thick), upper deck (2mm thick), front & rear lower bulkheads, motor mount, center bulkhead motor mount support and rear belt", maybe there will be some more changes to the car. Just a couple of weeks and we'll see.
