Damn it kentech, you always get the scoops! Will be interesting to see what the changes are. Can't be anything too major given it is still a 416.

Part number and indicative pricing here: http://www.hlj.com/product/TAM42162

The price is an astonishing 210 yen more expensive than the TRF416WE list price

Yeah been some time I don't read this board all that often anymore and rarely write anything. Think we need to wait for the lipo rules and weight limits to settle worldwide before we see a 417...

Don't worry Chris. As kentech said, that's a 200 yen difference in list price which is less than $3.

I have some info on the 416X from Champ:

"Tamiya says this kit will be including newly designed lower deck (2.25mm thick), upper deck (2mm thick), front & rear lower bulkheads, motor mount, center bulkhead motor mount support and rear belt. This kit will be released around December."

I'm actually kind of sitting next to Hupo. He seems very busy with his pan cars though, so I'd hate to bother him. He's been wrenching very hard the entire weekend. I'll see if there's a good time to bug him.

I'm going to try the original 416 chassis and top deck tomorrow and see if that frees the car up over the WE versions. It definitely does on our home track (which has high bite) but I'm finding setup changes here to be somewhat different than what we get at home. I'm also doing to ditch the soft c-hubs I think. They seem to really help in low traction, but as the bite comes up and the car leans more, it feels inconsistent.
Hupo is a really nice guy and you wouldn't be bothering him if you need to ask some setup questions. Definately go back to the standard 416 upper deck. The old chassis will make the car slightly more aggressive but should give you a little more turn-in as well.

Turn your dual rate down a little if you need to, make the car a little easier to drive just so you can have a full run without crashing. Since IIC is rocket round qualifying, nobody has secured a position until the last run of today is over. Good luck!
