good evening all
i have just got my new servo , the Futaba 9550 and i want to kow if i am setting my car up right steering wise !!!
i have to use 150% travel on my DX3s and i am thinkingthis is not normal , how does every one set there cars up ?? and how much steering do you use on the transmitter ???
go you all use spacers on the servo saver to make the angle of the steering arm 90 degrres to the steering mechanism ??
photos would also help me
i use a Kimbrough saver also

1. Set EPA to 150% for both sides.
2. Center steering trim
3. Mount servo horn
4. Use sub-trim to make servo horn completely perpendicular to chassis
5. Adjust EPA so that I'm getting full lock R/L without binding the steering
6. Put it on the track and set my circles to be even
7. Use dual rate to dial in/out steering to my liking.
I'm sure there's many different ways to go about this. This is just my personal procedure which has served me well enough.

Dual rate basically just limits the rate of travel equally in both directions. The steering should still be linear.

If your lucky the endpoints will match and everything is beautiful. If you have a HUDY Set-Up system it may be necessary to adjust the endpoints so that the wheels deflect the same amount of degrees left and right. Once again , the # of the endpoint is meaningless .... it doesn't matter if they are off a bit as long as the wheels turn equally.

Good luck M8

right a bit of a problem on the dam steering
i fitted the 9550 servo and had to use the Tamiya high torque saver because my Kimbrough is not for a futaba
at 150% dual rate the steering uprights wont touch the C hubs ???
i have not put the car on the HUDY gauges but i think i now have less steering !!!!
have just re adjusted all the tie rods to the length in the manual and this has squared the wheels up
the Kimbrough was shorter than the tamiya one , is it posable for the servo to have less "throw" then another one ???

Tech Master

My servo arms is slightly to the right (relative to car). forgot the length of the linkage, but a little bit shorter than the stock one. I can easily go lock to lock.
You sure your dual rate is set back to 100%?

Not happy his TRF416 in the opening three practice runs, Groskamp was clearly delighted to break into the 17 laps for the first time. The Dutch ace had made a number of small changes to his car since winning the Warm Up race, including the fitting of some prototype parts, but reverted to a more standard set-up and was much happier with the feeling.
