Tamiya has a few lubes ,, some are discontinued and others are now sold as VG grease.
As for that video... I grease the sockets and not the rings. I want to protect the pulley and not the drive ring. The tool you need to polish the drive ring is the long diff half. Once the diff is apart that is, lol when else would you need to do that and need a special tool.. please...

i can't beleive i never thought of that myself, i was going to buy that Muchmore Tool for $25 and then you said use the long outdrive.

Does that work? The bore where the ball bearing rests is not protruding?

The short half has the bearing mount on it .. The long half does not. I have done several drive rings with my diff half and it works marvelously.

The grease he uses to secure the rings to the outdrives is Tamiya. Not sure what type it is, though. It probably doesn't matter much, was just curious.

your right .. anything will work there ... just to hold the rings in place.

I believe it is the 53176. The original came in a tube, but with the re-release of the F103 I think it now comes in the container

The diff half does work, been doing it that way all along, but I'm still considering the muchmore tool for my diff rings.

A. it's magnetic and going to hold onto the diff ring
B. it's a lot easier to hold perfectly upright due to its shape (compared to a diff outdrive). The last thing I want are my fingers cramping up from sanding diff rings!

the titanium coating on the shock shafts has worn off
just as Jilles has pointed out. He replaces the shaft with a
new part when this occurs.
