They are actually quite effective for balancing. A similar set came with my MSX-MRE. Very easy to use too. Just grab two of your hex-drivers and slide one under each of the notches. Now pick up the car. It will lean one way. You add weight to the other side until it doesn't lean. Beats the pants off X-ray's method of pin-point stands. Still seems odd that the 416 didn't come with them originally...

i cheat ....
bought 4 small scales and made a corner weight station
i can see the point of them but why would you need to buy them , they dont break or wear out , and there is so much on the 416 that does wear , you have to spend enough on maintinance

...have any of you experienced any type of binding when steering is full locked either left or right under low acceleration? under full acceleration drive line is smooth as silk, slow speeds while steering under full lock sounds a little bindy and cant find where. Front, rear diffs rebuilt and cleaned, centre lay shaft the same. Belt tension is spot on.
Any ideas from any of you?

It seems like the TRF team might be testing some kind of new center pulley?

Hi,
back from the ETS race (nice one!)
Vic was testing the new 20T Centershaft. But it seems to be a very early prototype. Meanwhile many TRF416 were already equipped with the new seperated suspension mounts. They make changes in toe very easy.
The setup was similar to the one from the last year. The new "middle hole" damper stays gave me a brilliant second B-Main in stock, as my car could fly over the curvs without rolling away.

Dai, congrats on your result. I have to question you on the "new" shock towers though. To me the shock positions don't look different, apart from the so called "middle hole" which I believe is a tool to check the side-to-side balance of the chassis? Would be nice to overlay the old and new towers to see any differences.

Do you guys still manufacture and use the snap-on diff covers for the 416? Are they available for purchase anywhere that ships to the US?
