STLNST : you have made a good choice, the MRE is a great car and real easy to drive or set up, easyer than the 416. the car can take a good beating. and when built in the right way, you will have no problems what so ever.

That's what I've seen at the track. I'm looking forward to running this car.

Dameetz, those outdrives will not work, they are for the 415 series spool. The 416 spool outdrives are different. I used to use those but the hardenend dog bone pin tore through them pretty fast, that was in modified though, in other classes they might be fine.
Clint, if your going to run modified on asphalt, the 416 is a much better choice, a lot more stability. For carpet or stock, the MRE will be a real good car. Have fun!

So all I'd have to do is come up there, race for a day, and you'd need to get a 416?

I'm not running mod anymore so I'm good but I have seen this car keep up and beat the local mod driver quite a few times so I think I'll be alright. I'm all 13.5 for now.

Come on up. Better bring a 13.5 I remember the last time I issued a challenge was when the original jrxs came out. I offered to pay a racer's entry fee if they ever beat me with that car. Never had to pay up on that deal....I don't expect the 416 to ever handle like that car The price was killer so for what I'm getting.

Ask the question in terms of your Final Drive Ratio (FDR).

FDR equals your spur teeth/pinion teeth times your Internal Ratio.

Your Internal Ratio is your diff pulley teeth/center pulley teeth. (If you ever run a shaft drive it's your ring gear/bevel gear). It's 2.06 for the TRF416.

To cover the two motor combos you've quoted I'd probably run the 105t kit spur.

I've run 23t and had good luck in the 6.25 to 6.5 FDR range. That's six cell.

So, with a 2.06 Internal Ratio, a 105t spur and a target FDR of 6.5 calculate your pinion thus:

2.06*105/6.5=33t pinion

Shoot for a motor temp between 140 and 160 deg. Fahrenheit. You shouldn't burn up brushes too badly there.

Can't help you on the 4.0 brushless. But if someone has a conservative ballpark FDR to start with you're good to go to calculate it yourself.

22... check temp frequently..

I think he was only asking if the new 416 WE chassis plate handles differently than the original 416 chassis and if it is worth getting one for his original 416.
