I saw the brand new line of Black coated Tamiya parts but i missed a few parts that i would like to have in black.

The pulley of the spool and diff and the centerpulleys. DOes someone know if Tamiya will come with these?
Or does someone know an other brand that sells them or do i have to paint them black again?

Don't paint them. Just get some ritz dye at the local fabric shop and dye them black. It's never a "true" black, but it looks pretty good. Just double up on the dye (per unit of water), and leave them in the pot for a couple hours...

Hi,

I did some of those tricks with my 415 pulleys with water and cooking etc to get them black. But i prefer pulleys of other brands of Tamiya black ones.

always wonder this, when people quote droop on setup sheets are they quoting the measurement of droop or the downstop value if measured on droop blocks?

I have a 415 MSX and wanted to update the rear diff (so it doesnt go to junk in a few runs) and possibly the steering rack, what parts would I need for the diff and what is the advantage of the other steering rack? (I am going to be running on medium bite asphalt, and lets say on a scale of 1-10,probably 2 less than Tamiya USA for reference) and a follow up, can anyone recommend a good spool set up and who makes the best spool/where to buy it.

Craig M I use the Tamiya ride height/droop guage with the tires off I measure droop guage flat on the chassis to the oustside of the suspension arm which usually is 5 or 6 or 6 = approx 25.5mm from the top of the axle to the set up board with no tires on of course. 5 = approx 24.5mm hope htis helps

I've been getting most of my parts from Speedtech RC(though there are times when I have to go overseas), & Tamiya's own site also has a good number of parts(shipping from their California warehouse)....

So far, most of my stuff has had to come from overseas (RC MARKET). It's a bit of an annoyance, but they usually ship fast. I'll have to start checking Speedtech more often. Parts availability in the US has been my only real gripe with the car, but I knew it would be weak before I jumped in. The parts support overseas is awesome though, so it's just a matter of planning for and dealing with international shipping.

No problem, you guys have been great! Sometimes my lazy mail carrier doesn't bring stuff to the door for a signature, so I have to drive to the post office to find out it's arrived. Usually, I get stuff from you faster than many of the US shops that take 5 days to ship (Tower Hobbies).

International orders are a little more expensive to ship, so I try to buy a lot each time. :-D

Looks like the new toe blocks are being released soon - from 1XD to 1F - all of which can be flipped upside down. 44mm steel driveshafts also on their way.

Hey all,

been a bit quite recently, but starting to get more active with my car, mainly as I have my one and only national next month (and in mod, talk about deep end).

As part of this, I finally found a use for my old broken 415 MRE chassis plate... and have made up some carbon steering cross braces for the 416. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but a lot of guys at the Reedy race were either a) not running the alloy brace but a carbon one (Hupo for sure), or b) not running the screw that connects the to top deck.

Thinking about this, I remembered I had the old chassis plate I split down the side from my 415. Given the screw holes are the same width as for the steering on the 415 as the 416, I thought I could make a brace up by using that plate... turns out I was able to make some more too.

So, if anyone would like one, PM me. I'll only ask that you cover postage (they are hand finished after all, and, well the quality isn't mega, but hey, it'll work) to wherever in the world.

I'll get some pics up tonight.
