It does seem like you can sporadicly pick up the 416 blocks. I have some on back order with RC Market at the moment, should be back in, in a few weeks.

It is a bit odd though, as you would have thought that they would bring them out sooner, but oh well
based on the slowness of parts becoming available, the fact that there still isn't an english 416 page on the tamiya japan site, and a late production change to the layshaft bearing holder...one might speculate that what we have is a "preview" version of the 416?
but only speculation!
either way, there will be other versions of the 416 coming as that is just tamiya

Hey all,

Just another informative one tonight.... If your worried about the 416 and 415 blocks being different, hopefully these pics will help.

Frist one is showing the setup for the measuring, 416 A block on the front, 415 A block on the rear, with a hinge pin held in place with the usual balls.

Second pic shows the height at the forward/416 part of the pin, the third at the rear/415 part.... 0.01mm difference, which can easily be accounted for by error in measuring etc, so they are as near as dammit equal

Cheers
Ed

Hi Ed,
check the parallelism between the hinge pins and not with lower deck. My new D/old D blocks test have 0,3/0,4 mm of difference.

like this? Not trying to rubbish your claim, but I really don't think there is anything to worry about over a 0.08mm difference...

For the Lipo guys, do you tune down your motor since the voltage is higher than 5 cells?

I currently run 6 cells with 3.5, 4 and 4.5R brushless and am wondering if I could use the same motors after moving to Lipos.

Looks like the same for the finals two... first two have been run by the look of it, with 1,2,3 with Marc, Viktor, Jilles, in that order, both times

Has anyone actually mounted a SMC Hardcase 5000 Mah LIPO in their 416? Any clearance issues? I know that the measurements shown earlier in this thread said there may be issues but I am just wondering if anyone has had success with the 416/5000(SMC) combination?

Thanks,

As a matter of fact, I just installed my electronics in a 416(just got it yesterday), including the SMC 5000 hardcase pack, & it fits PERFECTLY, tolerances are VERY close, but it clears everything with no chassis alterations needed. I've put mine away fo the night, but if I can remember to, I'll take a pic or two & try to post it in here sometime tomorrow night....

Quite, I'm working on it though (hurry up Eirik ).

From what I've been told, they are running C/C on the front for more lower speed steering, and also all the team were running roll bars.
Hopefully have the setups soon ish.

Cheers
Ed
