I'm all for a learning curve but if you put a 5 cell 10.5 down against a 6 cell Novak 10.5 it's gonna be MURDER down the straight. Where are you racing this Sat? Norcal? You better bring some ponies for that track.

I'll be at Norcal running mod this sat but I will pay for a racer's entry fee if he passes me down the straight with a 5 cell against my 6 cell

I guess I need to try another, even though this one is only a few weeks old, I'd rather gnaw off my arm than try and deal with LRP's warranty service.

So, I ran the Orion again. I still don't love the way it feels, but it was better. The motor seems like it's more RPM biased. It would get quick by the end of the straights, but lacked grunt out of the corners. And yet, I turned my fastest lap ever on our current layout with the the Orion.

My conclusion? Who f'ing knows. They all seem similar with slight differences. Run the one that's right for you. I give up trying to compare them, I'm clearly not good enough to make a valid comparison.
syndrome... are you gearing your 13.5 LRP (no sintered rotor) the same as your Novak 13.5 with a sintered rotor?

thanks.

I've only run it with the sintered rotor, sorry. :-( I'm geared higher than a Novak 13.5/sintered. It's probably more like the gearing on the Novak 13.5 with the new 13mm rotor.

Hi, I'm looking to buy a 13.5. My speed control is a Schulze 18.61K. Much as I'd like to a new speed control is out of the question. Will the LRP X-11 13.5 run with a Novak SS 13.5 despite having a non-sintered rotor? The Team Orion is out of the equation due to price and Syndrome's evaluation. Thanks, Don

yes the lrp13.5 nonsintered does hang with novak13.5ss. i am the only one at my track with lrp setup and am just as fast as they are. my laptimes are slower due driver error but the motor pulls everywhere and on the straight no one pulls me at all. and i just put the sintered in it with the ceramic bearings and heatsink fan combo as well. should be faster now. this is foam carpet racing 10 second track

One thing abou buying a LRP speedcontrol and running a Novak 13.5 motor, is that the motor will not thermal out becaust its mising the blue wire. so you could potentialy fry teh motor due to get getting hot and not knowing it. So if you track is Novak 13.5 and 14.5 manditory, no sense in buying anything but novak for that reason.

Default Did a test...

Hey guys, I did a 13.5 test today on Carpet. It was the novak version with a sintered rotor. My friend has been running the 13.5 and a lipo in his car for quite a while and I asked him to try a 5 cell pack. He obliged and we went up 3 teeth on the pinion. The conclusion was that the car became instantly easier to drive. Super smooth and definitely easier for a new person entering the hobby. As I had just gotten used to the car, Larry Bradshaw (team tamale) came out on the track with his 6 cell brushed stock car and this was the closest I have ever seen a 13.5 come to equaling the power of a stock brushed motor. He would pull me 2-3 feet down the straight but I would be able to catch him on the infield... Im sure gearing up a few more teeth would help. Anyways, If your new to the sport and looking to make your car easier to drive, drop a cell...
