Basically, three companies are making sensored brushless motors right now that are readily available to consumers. Those are Novak, LRP and Feiago. Novak and LRP only sell motors under their own brands, while Feiago is the OEM source for several companies, including Orion, GM and SpeedPassion.

We've seen posts from Charlie saying that all the companies are working together with the sanctioning bodies to create a standard for spec brushless motors to ensure they're as even as possible. Many of us assume that 13.5 motors will be the new "stock," and 10.5 motors will be the new spec mod (19T). Presumably, those will be the two motors where there's focus on design limitations, with all others being considered open mod, and possibly not subject to the same limitations. It's not clear how today's 13.5 motors will fit into those rules.

There are a lot of 13.5 threads floating around, but I figured it would be good to unify them all into one place. Many stock racers have already switched over, and I imagine as time goes on, we'll see a lot of other people make the jump as well. Hopefully we can use this thread as a single point of reference and resource for these motors.

Can you provided Torn down pictures of the LRP Vector 13.5 and the Novak SS13.5 Pro??? I think that would be a great addition to this thread. Would like to see them soon if you can provide them. I am going to print these pictures and use them for a 13.5 tech book for my club.

Excellent Pics.... Great thread???

I'll see what I can do. It's pretty time consuming getting it all ready to go.

It doesn't seem like it's intended to be removed. I didn't look into how hard it would be to force it out.

don't know size..but they should fit the SpeedPassion BL motors..and assuming it will fit the LRP's and Orion's.

I've thought about these too for my speedos..
soon as I have a large enough order.. I'll order some overseas..

u'll probably have to consider the fact that both novak and LRP have cheap and expensive versions of 13.5.
eg.
Novak EX13.5 vs SS13.5
LRP Eraser13.5 vs Vector13.5.

IMO, without knowing the specifications, it is possible that the cheaper versions COULD be more suited to running in the same class WITH 27T brushed and the more expensive (i.e. faster) motors suited to a class of their own.

Order me some

Me+soldering holes (like the orion motors)= bad

I cant solder those worth my life

Count me in for 3 of them when you order

Also, if you can get me some cheap bullet plugs like you have, I will take some of those too!

But to add to the 13.5 thread, I think pics of all would be cool also... I would, but my novak is messed up! If I were to take it apart, It would be done for shure.... So I dont want to risk it

I ran the Orion 13.5 a couple of times today, but had to cut testing short due to a bad one way.

My initial impressions are not good. The speed of the motor seemed okay, but the good news ends there. It felt like a light switch, with the worst feel of any brushless motor I've ever run. It had really soft drag brakes, and no grunt out of the turns. The throttle really felt like it was on, off or nothing in between. This was a pretty massive disappointment compared to the LRP motor which is a dream to drive in every sense.

I'll no doubt need to do more testing to give a more definitive opinion. I didn't mess with timing the motor yet (it's at 0 currently) and I didn't have enough time to try all the gearing possibilities. However, none of that will matter when it comes to drag brake, and that was by far the biggest let down.

Wow, thats not good man!

Thats so wierd because my 10.5 was AMASING! And I wont ever be buying a LRP or novak to run 10.5, orion all the way

How big is the rotor in the orion 13.5? Maybe its too small?
