And you can put it in any of the motors,3.5 and up.
Yo 8up! What is up?

It is actually a 13mm rotor. It creates less air gap providing a little more cog and taking a MUCH larger gear. Whether it is faster or not is yet TBD. I do not think it is faster, but it gives a different feel. Standard sintered rotor will have quite a bit more rpm.

So what are you guys gearing the Orion 13.5? Is it close in performance? Run the fan or remove it from the rotor?

Give me the low down

I think i will be going with the Novak motor and the 13mm tuning rotor and the LRP esc.I have found a few different part #s for the LRP speedo.Tower has LRP80700.I found 8050 and 80750 on ebay.Correct me if i am wrong, but the latest and greatest LRP is the one with the 2007 edition sticker on the front right ??.Tower does not show the box,but i would hope that they have the 2007 one listed.

Hey Rob,whats up?...me man,ya know I'm 8up!
I like the rotor,it did improve lap times on Jr's TC5 and it decreased motor temp.Yesterday, when he WON the 13.5 class, the motor was only 112. You coming down next weekend?

The other one is 1/8X3/8 - a standard motor bearing.

Default 13.5 Operating Temperatures

Just started foam TC racing with a Novak 13.5 with GTB ESC.

Initially I was undergeared and had only about 100deg. in the motor, which was 1.5 sec. off the A-main lap times. With a complete collection of pinions I started to inch up the gearing and monitoring the temp and lap times. Soon enough I was running 165 deg. and my best laps. I even went 1 tooth further and the ESC shut down at 190 deg. at even a better fast lap time. Went back down and raced a club night in 3 races at 165 deg. so it seems the gearing is right on.

My question is why don't I see more heat management devices on brushless setups? I am interested in trying heat sinks, fans, vents or whatever it takes to put that next larger pinion on. Specifically I'm talking about the motor itself since my ESC already has a fan/heatsink.

I did get one of those novak velocity V-shaped heat sinks and will install that for some back to back testing.

I jusy checked Acer Racing for bearings. They have the 1/8 x 3/8,but do not offer a 3/16 x 1/2.That seems odd that they would not offer that bearing.Maybe it is 3/16 x ???????.If soemone has that bearing out of their motor, can you please double check the size and LMK.Thanks

Steve
