Peep the vids. I know the A main was like 45 minutes long (somewhere in the vicinity there of) but, look at the speeds. Call me crazy (wow, thats a stretch), but electric, looks...FASTER. With 2 lipo packs and a good pit crew, these dudes might have been in trouble

It is an indoor track. I think its in the Philippines. For all the yap about nitro on road, its not that impressive to say the least. We all know about str8 line speed electric being faster, but if they ever (ROAR, IFMAR, yada uada) were to ever allow electric/nitro races, those dudes would get DESTROYED. Be it 5 cell and a good pit crew or lipo with a good pit crew, with a good brushless set-up and....I better chill....dont want to bring the out.

In your opinion, do the electric modified appear faster? Or could it be that my bandwith and my eyes were playing tricks on me?

Electric and nitro are two different forms of R/C racing. Each venue has it's own unique appeal and challenges. Why try to compare the two? Almost everyone knows that you can make an electric powered car go as fast as a nitro powered car. So what?

duirng one of the non-race days at the track, 2 of the guys fooled around, one running nitro and the other running 3.5BL... ifi'm not mistaken , the nitro had a slight advantage at the back straight

I will try to keep my cool, because if I dont.....look. Didnt I say somewhere in there that we all know electric is good for faster straight line speed?!? Or did you bypass that to pick what you wanted to read? The comparison has always been that nitro is more powerful this, nitro is faster and quicker paced racing that......Maybe where you are, there isnt much of a fuss, but electric gets very little props in NYC. It is identified as a "fast for 5 minutes" side of r/c. Many dudes still think of the silent killers as toys and nitro is where the big boys play. My point in showing the race in the philippines isnt to dis it, but to point out that mod electric racing appears faster. And with BL/Lipo gaining further momentum, one day, racing between the two wont be seperated at every venue. I know they are two different forms of racing, I race both. Dont state the obvious and pick a beef. You missed the point and would have been better if you kept your mouth shut!

Whats the length of the straight? The cars looked fast, but if the track is smaller than the "standard type" of nitro track, then possibly, the cars didnt have room to stretch their legs, hence, they didnt appear as fast as some other nitro races I have seen. It wasnt to diss nitro, but to further uplift electric....guess rmdhawaii doesnt it see it that way. He is sooooo smart.

i never knew this was up for debate? LOL Electric has alwasy been faster! Unless running on an outdoor track with 200ft straights most mode sedans will out run a nitro sedan. IMHO. Locally at our parking lot track we used to run nitro class and electric class same day, many drivers drove both classes, and a few guys would lap faster with there electrics then there nitro sedan....

Instant power, no lag, lighter cars... electric! "

Totally wasnt Joel. Thats why I asked VooDoo what was the length of the biggest straight. As he indicated, the track is used for both forms of racing. Now, at some places where nitro is abundant, some folks are reduced to slapping their electric buggies and truggies (converted nitro to electric, BL/lipo) down with nitros.......where the nitros get duffed out! This thread was not only to "big-up electric", but to give insight to what the future may hold....electric sedan racing that has long mains, complete with pit stops and battery changes to give nitro a run for its money. rmdhawaii saw fit to make a comment like that gave the aura of "well, duh".

back straight is about 40ft i would think... the nitros pull into 2nd gear around 2/3 down the straight, so there isnt really much space for them to "stretch their legs"

Thats true, but I'm usually the instigator. Feels kind of weird being on the receiving end of an "unprovoked attack" lol

Thats all, 40ft? That explains it. It does look longer than only 40ft, but 2/3 down the straight before they go into a turn doesnt give them room to really open up.
