tt-01r is more of a starter kit, parts are easily accessible we have a lot of guys using the kit which means you'd easily be able to get help and it's a tamiya most of us started with tamiya and it's always a good brand to start and learn more about the hobby,,, best of all,, parts of the tt-01 are very inexpensive you can bash the car all you want play with it anyway possible and it wouldnt cost you a leg to get replacement parts.

you really can't use it for competitive racing though,,, but don't get me wrong it's a great kit,,, but if you'll be racing you better opt for the other brands.

XRAY M18 is half the size of a TT-01, can't really compare them. 90% of people would be better off with a TT-01 as it is a lot more usable in the real world.

Visit your local track and see what people are racing.
