Comm lathes are for Sissies!!!
i thought up of a very cheep way to cut your comm! you dont have to dump hundreds into a hudy lathe, when you get almost the same results as this!
NOTE TO SELF: THIS IS A JOKE!!! DONT ACTUALLY TRY IT. thankyou.
all you need is a drill, and a x-acto knife. say bye-bye to lathes!!!
and it works. really! this tip is for those of you who trim your nails with a dremel, and wash your hands with wd40!

Jonathon,
You may be on to something!
Try this one for a quick skimming in between runs! Take some 800 grit sand paper and pinch the com between your thumb and pointer finger. Now with moderate pressure run your drill until the com is bright!
This is much better then using a diamond bit lathe! Cheaper too!

Am I the only one that thinks this is dumb? A 13 year old understands this better than most of you. Doing this will not keep the comm a perfect cylinder shape, so the brushes won't seat properly. I would not recommend doing this. But suit your selfs, I honestly would pay $7 for a comm pen to clean it off. I bet a comm cleaned with a comm pen side by side to this method would yield higher RPM's due to more brush contact area. But whatever make you guys happy. All I can say right now is Hackasaurus.

Im with you. If you are going to bother with that as opposed to just buying a new motor then do it right and get it round. Gotta have a lathe.
