Hi Guys/Martin

I have got my first GM 120 speedo coming next week. Version 7.2 software. I have read just about al these posts and think i have got the general idea. Just a couple of questions please .......

Is the " Net-Book AS-Soft 1.21 für 800x600 Bildpunkte " compatible with Firmware 7.2 ? I need a version that runs in a low resolution for my netbook for trackside checks !

Is the "stock how to" now not relevant with version 7.2 ?

I will be using the GM system in my carpet chassis with a GM 10.5 motor, Lipo batteries, Tamiya 416 WE.

Will the 7.2 setup you posted a few pages back be ok for this please Martin ?
Main straight is perhaps 60ft long, many tight turns and 180 degree hairpins - quite technical. Please suggest a final drive ratio to compliment your setup ?

Many thanks for your help in anticipation

Richard

Richard, You should run 1.3.6, it runs on on a netbook.

Stock how to - no, don't believe it applies to 7.2.

Default replacing wires

I need to replace one on the power leads on my gm120.ive got a 80amp soldering iron which isnt even melting the solder, the heat sink is so effecient its taking away all the heat from the wires..any advice? even a 120 amp gas solder iron isnt really touching it..i dont wanna get the speedo to hot as this will cause damage internally..

I had a similar problem when renewing my wires. They only way i got them off was after i removed the top heatsink. I was removing this anyway to fit the speedo to my 12th scale so it wasnt a problem for me. BUT I WOULDNT ADVISE ANYONE TRY THIS as it will be near impossible to get it back on properly. I dont know what kind of nuclear powered soldering iron gm uses but mine woudlt touch it.

well the problem is that the speedo is beeing sodlered leadfree so you need to get a mixture of leaded solder wire and the unleaded one on the solder tabs

I used a ersa RDS80 digital or now the GM soldering station to resolder various ESCs
not an issue really, you just need atleast 450° and a proper soldering station

easiest way to get the wires replaced, and the safest aswell, is to send the speedo to GM

do not!!! remove any part of the case!

Just use a regular sensorless setting like mode3 or such

Nothing fancy really and sensors are definately not necessary

as for gearing I cannot really recommend any
I only do touring cars

Hi guys,

Just jumped on the wagon and got myself a GM120 running 7.2 coming over from running the Tekin RS....

Would anyone have a base set up for 10.5 running indoors? Straight is about 70ft long? Normally Geared at around 7.0 on the Tekin.

In the Same boat as Richard really in with regards to Marks setup.... Could possibly do with just turning it down slightly but wouln't have a clue where to start!!!

Many Thanks
