Some more questions:
- When a factory reset is done i guess all profiles go back to the factory settings and the unit goes back to profile 0, is this correct?

no mode 2 is default setting

- When you alter settings in a particular mode will these changes remain on that mode if you use the transmitter to change to another mode and then go back to the original mode later on?

yes

- What sort of max current setting should you use for 13.5 / 17.5 motors or does it not matter?

those motors never reach the max current really *g* leave it at 200 or 250 *g*

- What does soft brake do?

please don't alter softgas or softbrake ... the values are given by a lot of testing and proofed to work best
see above

well I am not too much into offroad but I guess smoothness is crucial

so I'd try

4kc frequency

around 150A amplimiter

5% minimum brake

in reserved: lipo mode, new brake software, tempcut off

I think this should be smooth enough

if it's still too rough try reducing the amplimit

I am looking to get a new speed controller as I was wondering about the gm 120

how has it been running, I believe you can adjust timing is there also a turbo mode for this controller, it is between this the gm 120 and team wave rb50 and speed passion pro 2.0.

pro's and cons would be a great input

Cheers

Thanks Martin - What mode should I set it on before updating these values?

Also, in the stock how-to you have the transmitter values and say if these aren't correct you need to re do the transmitter setup. All my values are about right apart from the brake one which is at about 1.4ms, can you give any advice on how to update this?

Thanks

Dan

the mode does not really matter as you wil be running sensorless but I'd use mode 2 or 3

make sure max throttle and max brake are both set to 100%

@all never use more then 100% on the transmitter please

do the mode picking process once again ... take your time and do it properly

thenyou will get the correct values

Hi Martin

I have just downloaded and installed AS Genius Tools 1.3.6 and installed it.

I have noticed a tab called 'Special Settings'. I am using a Genius 120 with firmware 4.9 can these features be used and can you explain when you would want to alter them and why.

these values are the most complicated ...

the only thing you will want to alter is the switchpoint rpm (set it to 10000)
this way you get more punch as timing advance kicks in earlier

however there are drivers who prefer the standard values as if you change this value, the motor temp will drastically increase!

I ask you to leave all other values untouched

if you don't know what it does, don't change it ...

OK.

Am I right in saying the timing is advanced less at low RPM and more when it goes over the the set point?

My speedo displays the following settings
Timing 2 = 110
Timing 1 - 90

How much timing is 90 and 110?

Marcel Gm speedos may look tricky at the begining, but when used to them they are pretty easy and when you find the sweet spot to your driving style there isnt much to setup.
These are state of the art escs with tons of options and small increments to fit any driver and track.
I have setuped a few modes on mine to fit my driving style and according to the track and grip conditions I just have to choose the correct mode, obviously I have to know whats been loaded on each mode

That dificult myth are cheap words of users/sellers of much basic controllers.
Actually a Genius120/90 wont win races by its own,but its a great help to the driver
Give them a try and you wont regret.

Hey,

I'm about to get a Genius 100, for 1/10 modified .
Will i have problems using it with a speed passion 7,5 or anything else other than a GM ?

Is it a bulletproof esc ? I am used to the mamba max...

I found very interesting the multiple setup possibilities (brakemax, abs, etc ...)
I won't be using a computeur or a programme card to set it up so do i have to expect problems with all those "bips" and led thing ?

Thanks guys .
