Martin, my 85 wont run on a 4C lipo, just peeps all the time, I have it set in mode 3 ... what am I doing wrong ??

Had the same problem with 12 Nimh cells, so I just reduced it to 11 and it ran fine.

It will not run, even on 4s liion will not, it is too high voltage, because at the end it is 4.2v x 4 = 16.8v, not 14.8, you need to use cells for a while in other model or undercharge them (don't know if reccommended). I have the same problem with my 85. On new software it works already...

Hey, a 4cell lipo is 4x 3.7 = 14.8V not 16.8V
The instructions for the GM 85 clearly state it will handle a 4C Lipo in mode 3

Quote:
Operating voltage range: 4.8 ... 14.8 V
Cell count, NiCd, NiMH: 4 - 12
Cell count, LiPo, LiIo: 2 - 4 (Mode 3)

Fully charged lipos are 4.2v eah cell like stated above. The 3.7v rating is with a load.

Hey guys thanks for all the awesome info on how much Volt a charged, discharged, with load and without load a LIPO cell has.

BUT the question im asking is why my GM85 wont run on a 4C lipo in mode 3, the instructions dont say it has to be a disharged or only half charged for it to work

Default Genius 120

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your help at the Euros (motor repair). The Evo3 is now working again!!

Do you know if we can manually change the switch on/off in the Genius 120? I could not enter that part of the program manually. I could only change the program Modes manually. Also, after I did the drives and software’s download at GM site, the pc doesn’t recognise the Genius 120.

Any tips are welcome

1. have you installed the usb driver correctly? if so, the red led on the usb cable will flash red

2. have you picked out the right com port? (check for which comport the usb cable uses in system settings -> hardware manager)

3. check if one of the pins in the esc is bent, if so bent it back VERY CAREFULLY

4. have you downloaded the newest programming software and! have you picked the right com-port and activated it?

if everything of the following is correct, it must work

btw. programming of the genisu 120 is different
no battery is needed anymore
only the usb cable included

Thanks for your tips Martin,

I'm going to try again this evening with your advices. As a matter of fact the usb drivers as a new version (5.3) and the AS software is a new version too (1.1.4).

MSB told me today that a new version (1.1.4) of As Genius tool was available.

I wonder if those new features on advanced tab are compatible with older controllers (genius 95 1yr old)
Theres nice new features like selectable cut-off voltage and new modes.
Im currently on v1.1.1 should I upgrade or its useless?

Thanks to GM Techs for improving what was near perfect.

PS:You should improve user manuals because those are a nightmare for first timers.I almost sold my genius95 when I first tried to config with set button

to use the new features (who can be programmed with version 1.1.0 or newer already!) you need to update the ESC which has to be done by GM in Germany.
Send it to Kirchheim with a note that you want it to be updated and you'll get it back asap.

KOGP

very funny indeed.
As I don't own a wet car (neither was i prepared for the wet), I just used blue tack to make my car waterproof. used my Genius 120 ESC and it worked awesome. No failure whatsoever.
