For Hofer's v13 how-to, what mode are you supposed to use for stock and mod respectively?

Like said in the PC software "MODE" instuctions (click on the "?" mark) :

Factory settings:
Modified modes:
- Mode 0 (forward, with brakes): modified low grip (PRO 10)
- Mode 1 (forward, with brakes): modified high grip
- Mode 2 (forward, with brakes): modified medium grip (THE MOST USEFUL)
- Mode 3 (forward, with brakes): modified low grip
- Mode 4 (forward with brakes, reverse mode 1 available)
- Mode 5 (forward with brakes, reverse mode 2 available)

Modes for stock racing with 9.5T...21.5T with variable timing with hall sensors
- Mode 6 (forward, with brakes): soft additional timing
- Mode 7 (forward, with brakes): medium additional timing
- Mode 8 (forward, with brakes): high additional timing
- Mode 9 (forward, with brakes): max. additional timing

For STOCK, It depends of the motor turns but mode 7 is a good start.

I think with just these informations is kind a difficult to help. Give us more details. Like ESC setup, ratio, scale your running, etc.

This comes across wrong, but just run the gm motor?

Hi everybody,

I would to know something about the GM120

I have a 5.0T and i dont know how some adjustements are working...

fixed timing ?
Timing 1 ?
Timing 2 ?
Min. Timing Time ?
Max timing ?

It's for a 5.0T, could you give a good basic setup for it ?

Best Regards

You can use any mode, as you overwrite it with Martin's profile (attached to the v13 guide post).

Buy a temperature gun. Run for 2 minutes, check the temp. Run for 3 minutes, check the temp. Run for 4 minutes, check the temp.

If at any point the SP v3 is over 70degC then your settings are too agressive. Run less fixed timing, a lower amp limit or adjust your gearing.

Read the v13 guide here:

http://www.rctech.net/forum/7908081-post1851.html

And ignore all the other settings, most of them don't do anything in the v13 software.

this could be a silly question, but have you made the radio setup after sending the values of the V13 basic file?

What ratios are you on?

I think you're undergeared and the motor is revving its nuts off. I run on a track not much bigger than this and gear my 10.5 SP at about 6.5. I would think for 17.5 you'd be looking more in the 5.5 region, maybe less.

But as I said above, if you use a temp gauge and do short runs each time you change motor/gearing/profile/track you can try any settings you want and stop when it looks to be getting too hot.

A 20 tool can save you 100s on motors.

For sure undergeared. The motor will feel real fast but will be all the time on boost, wich lead to serious heat in the motor in a short period of time. I think Dale is right about ratio. Even better than a temp gauge is to use a motor with NTC, wich SPv3 motors doesn't have. With the GM PRO will be no problem because it has NTC and you can choose your temperature protection in the ESC.
