Unfortunately they don't stock it anymore.

It sucks that amazon germany wants only 44eu for it but they won't ship out of Europe while most hobby retailers I can find (which don't ship outside of the EU anyway) want 80-100eu for it.

Default Powercurve

Hello,

In Genius Tool GII V. 1.6.5 for ESC GM120
"The Powercurves are only in function if Timing with Sensors is set to +30°"
Is this thrue ? The most drivers I know donīt set it on +30°. Powercurve is set on 9 (10.5motor). Whatīs the difference between timing is set on +0° or +30° ?
Someone good setup for 10.5 on asphalt outdoors ?

Default Fixed Timing

what other selections do I need for fixed timing value to come into play? Is it High Speed Timing?

at the moment, mine is at 30, but I know its not in play as I'm in mode 2.

What is your drive frequency on? Reducing this should keep the ESC cooler. Try 4khz as a starting point

You can make the timing active in any mode, because with the PC software you can change all the settings of all the modes. But if you're running the default mode 2 settings then no it won't be active. You need to enable the High Speed Timing setting.

Read the v13 guide from Martin Hoffer. Use his settings file and just tune the settings he advises (amp limit, fixed timing and switchpoint).

If you're using the v13 firmware with High Speed Timing enabled, the power curve setting doesn't do anything. As in my above post, read Martins guide and ignore everything else as it either doesn't do anything, or has already been set to the best starting values by Martin.

For 10.5 on a medium sized track (40m straight) I run:

15k switchpoint
80A current limit
18 Fixed Timing and 6.7 FDR with LRP x12
22 Fixed Timing and 6.7 FDR with Speedpassion v3

I use the Variable Dependence Timing as it keeps the motor cooler and allows higher timing settings.

Thanks for the answer. I am just new with GM esc. With current limit do you mean amp limit (#11 Amp limit on manual) ? Motortiming is 0° or MAX ? Straight is 60m. I use Speedpassion v3 and LRP X11 10.5 motors.

Yes current limit is amp limit (#11).

With the Speedpassion v3 I run maximum endbell timing, otherwise it's just slow.

With the X11 start with the Speedpassion settings as a safe starting point, and add more fixed timing if the motor temperature is okay. I don't think the X11 will ever be as quick as the SP, so I'd run the SP out of the two.

Neither of these motors have an internal temperature sensor, so it is possible to overheat and damage them if you run too much timing. You definitely need a temperature gun to check the temperature after each run. Keep the SP below 80degC (ideally below 70). Not sure about the X11, but as it only has a bonded rotor I'd think no more than 70degC.

OK Thanks. I try it the next time i go practice. I always temp the motor and esc after some runs if setting is changed.

That could help, running 8 or 16 in drive frequency ..

Shall test without any other changes over the weekend.

Default Switchpoint question

my understanding is once the motor hits the switchpoint it creates higher boost

Here are the manual switchpoint advice

9,5 -13,5 T -> 8000 U/min - 12500 U/min
6,5 T 17000 U/min
modified > 30000 U/min

and Martins advice

For 10.5/6.5 the switchpoint should be between 15 – 25000

For Modified 5.5T 25000
4.5T 35000

Does anyone know if these numbers are also to be used for 12th scale or should it be lower due to voltage?

I use lower swithpoints in 12th scale for 10.5 (about half roughly) but for mod I don't run timing in 12th scale, so not sure there.
