thanks I will give that a try. Just worried about the temp of the thing, will try tonight and report my finding.

Default brakes

does anyone have lack of brakes with the gm90/120 v2?

I find it is inadequate, and I have my brakes at the max setting, no new brake software, braking with minimal delay.

Activate the new braking software.

the new braking software wont affect the braking power. Thats only for drag brake for dependent on speed!

that's not quite right, there's 'new brake software' but there's also 'new brake software for autobrake' which is what it looks like you mean.

Here are my current brake settings for 10.5 Prostock, with a SP V3.0 motor

this is what GM help says about new brake software

Quote:
New brake software :

If this function is aktivated, the brake feeling for the automatic brake at high speed is softer.
so the 'new brake software' is for drag brakes feeling at high speed.

would not have an effect on brake power!

I think it does effect overall braking power.

Last weekend i was up testing and i updated to V11.6 i took the car out for a run and realised i had seriouly bad brakes, the minute i went back i checked the settings and i had forgot to tick the "new brake" box. once i did this the brakes were back to itsnormal feel.

Its worth a try anyway but i thing it dramatically helps.

I realise that's what the manual says...but tick the box and see what happens

yes I done that before

I actually been in contact with Ralf from GM and he sent me a gd2 file, and new brake software was ticked, but it still didnt help.

I'm after just another 20% or so more braking power. At the moment, my lrp stock spec can stop in 3/4 distance to the GM!

Maybe thats because its only going 3/4 the speed? :P Seriously though gearing has a big effect on brakes, if you are overgeared then your brakes will suck.

turn up the initial brake and see how you go
Also, make sure your handset is correctly set, have seen it before where it simply needed to be re-done. Make sure the setting for allowing changes when changing modes is on though, or it won't do anything

I dont like drag brakes, it just makes the motor hotter.

I do all the TX settings everytime I pull the car out anyway, just in case.

nothing wrong with my TX settings, its all at neutral.

have also tried bumping up brake epa to 120%.

trust me, I have tried all the tricks, all the settings, and still no where as good as lrp and tekin brakes. I'm using the same car, and transferring the 3 different speedies on to see which is the best for my driving style.

I agree the brakes are not in the same league as LRP, or Tekin v203. But then it seems no other ESC can really match LRP in this area

To anyone having brake problems, if you are allowed, use GM/SP/EPIC duo 2/any Feigao motor with red GM 12.5 high gauss rotor 97286.3...(included in 97305 10.5T and 97303 13.5T). Gearing need only be a tooth or so taller

This will eliminate weak brake problems in a single stroke in almost all cases. Brakes are so strong that I rarely need full brake power with my GM

As poster John_S said previously, gearing is also a critical factor. With the new generation ESC's gearing is generally quite short which is good for brakes
