Yep, even in the country of origin. The factory is 20 miles from my home, that's why I drive a Yokomo. Besides that Serpent is brand for gas racers, let them stick to them. I have seen so man project going by this factory during the more than 25 yrs of racing. This car will be off the market within 2 years just like the offroad buggy about 20 year ago they tried to market. It was gone within a couple of months because they wanted to concentrate on the onroad gassers.
Go for a chassis which has a good support for sparepart whether it is in a onlineshop or your LHS

Are the parts easy to get for the new associated t 5?

They should not be an issue to find as Associated parts are commonly stocked in most hobby shops. Also, Tower sells everything that associated offers. I love my TC5 and would HIGHLY recommend it.

this is a personal opinion, if you are going to run strictly on carpet tracks then i suggest that you get the X-Ray T2 07 ( US version) its designed for carpet tracks but i think X-Ray will be coming out with their new T2 08 if running on different tracks you have lots of choices just ask around
