Well you could start with spur gear etc. Kimbro can be used with sanding the spacer blah blah, and flipping the layshaft backwards. So I don't start thinking I am a Makaw parrot type animal...

What is the MAX numer of teeth that can fit within the '008 chassis.

I think I recall someone saying that 150-teeth was the max on the '007, so with the 116 spur, that only leaves a 34-tooth pinion, is this correct?

- US Foam-Spec 6-cell Edition (#30 00012) ROAR Spec
- EU Rubber-Spec 5-cell Edition (#30 0010) EFRA Spec
- EU Rubber-Spec 6-cell Edition (#30 0011) ROAR, EFRA, FEMCA Spec

Spares depends on your level/ budget.. I didn't break anything on the 007 car. Haven't broke on the 008 car yet, If you get an early kit. I would get some blades for the drive shafts..

Simon,
I haven't seen or heard of a carpet conversion. I don't think you'd need it for the tracks we have in little old Adelaide. Stick with the 6 cell EU version.

My spares usage has been minimal at the track you're thinking of, except for last meet where I did a shock end, shock body and drive shaft by hitting a marshall's foot at full throttle. I didn't see him and I got to him quicker than he thought I might.

That said, I'd keep belts on hand and maybe rear hubs, steering knuckles and the steel bushes (definitely have them if you run indoors with unforgiving boards). You'll probably also want some spare hardware (bolts and the like) for the inevitable misplacement or loss of screws that happens from time to time. X-Rays are pretty tough (which is one thing I like) and the main concern would be wear and tear provided you don't run into immovable objects.

Drive shafts are things I'd only get if I needed them as they're expensive to have sitting around.

If you have a first batch kit with the alloy diff, some blades for the driveshafts although I've found the front ones (if you use them on the front)are the ones that you'll go through quicker than the rear, especially with a spool.

After breaking my car once and not being able to repair it I bought a heap of spares but in the time I've had them, I have barely had to use any of them.

PS PM me with a price for the car through your shop please.

Default T2 008 Servo Horns

Neither one of the servo horns that came with the kit fit on my JR Z9100S servo. It appears that the one stamped with a K is supposed to fit Airtronics, JR and KO. It fits the Airtronics just fine but not the JR. Is there a horn available that will work properly? Thanks.

What drive ratio are you trying to get to? if you use a kimbrough(need to sand the spacer to use), or RW 88tooth you can get any gear ratio needed when you have say a 50 tooth pinion.. I just put in a 96/42 for my 10.5. Mod gearings are easy..

I've run 34/116 with no problem. I run PRS pinions and it actually looks like I might be able to squeeze a 35 in there. I haven't tried that yet, but I know the 34/116 fits well.

If thats the layout you run... Try like a 36/100. What motor, batteries, esc are you using? Clean the fuzz from the bearings? seems like an awefully short gearing..Its been a bit since I used the novak motor. But a track that size I would be thinking more in the 6.0-5.5 range...

I like it I carry tons of corner speed and gain alot of infield on most. I havent experimented with gearing much since I just started running the 08. Gear are 4600s, Lrp Tc, Orion 10.5.....zero brake being used.

Especially with the orion, you can gear up from the other guys.. I ran 5.42 on a track similar to that one.. it was a lil more flowing.. but I don't think you would lose much infield punch at 6.0.. asphalt outdoors I was at about 5.0.. The motor can pull stumps.. At least the one I have can.. I thought 5.4 would be overgeared and it came off track at 155.. It all depends on your style. But don't be afrade to take it up a notch.. just mind the temps... the TC will let you melt the orion..
