Regarding parts breakage.....In some cases Xray offers some parts in a "softer" material. This will also help some when it comes to breaking. Stiffer parts means more precise, softer parts means a little more flex which helps some.

Great day of racing with the new EU 6 cell rubber ,008, first run and the first win with the new sedan.

The car is very smooth and super quiet. I had to change to 84 tooth spur ( 64p) and a 46 pinion for the 13.5 stock class. Have to work on the sway bars and springs to fine tune for my liking. Make sure you use the small screw for the CVD's on your pinion or you will chew up the belt. I forgot on the 1st run and the belt shows some wear.

The new 3600 lipo definately fits, just remove all of the battery retainers and it slides in great. You will need to tape it in to prevent it from moving.

I know this is the 008 forum, but I had to post this on here. XRAy quality is second to none and there cars are top of the line. I was racing yesterday with my FK05 and out qualified a whole list of RDX's, 007's, PHI's a TA05R and a Cyclone. There was thirity cars in my class 4 of the guys have a sponser, I was TQ by 1.5 sec and won the main by over a lap with a car that is at least 3 years old.
I hope I have not put a dent in Xray sales by showing some of the guys here that the older cars still can bring plenty of comp to the table and then some.

All that shows is driver is the most important part. If drivers where identical, then the newer car is going to win each time.

May I assume you were running the EU version with the 2.375 tr? Just seems like an awful lot of gear to run with the US version.

All that says is that a chassis a few years old is still competitive. We all knew that and it won't stop any sales. Generally speaking though, there are slight advantages running a newer design. Sometimes things are easier to work on, sometimes there actually is an improvement on something.

However for me, I have seen better lap times with each new x-ray car. The biggest jump was from the fk05 to a bmi t2. My lap times jumped .3 seconds. Now for some that might not be much, but for me that is huge. So when I get the 008 if I gain a tenth or two, I will be happy.

Drivers can be identical, but there is one thing you may have missed and that is setup. Setup is more important than having the best of the best, and setup will make a new car slow.

Take a look at my Sig again, I think it says 2008. I am not limited to that product line until that time.

I know it wont stop any sales what was I thinking. I agree, with the advances in design the new cars are easier to work on. I did have a T2 at one time, I went to that from a (dont ban me) TC4. The T2 was easier to work on and I love the quality of the Xray.

How does the Orion 4800 fit in the T2 008?

And setup is part of being a good driver. So again, drivers being identical, and being able to properly setup each car, the newer car will always win.

If Barry Baker was to run a TC3 at Snowbirds this year and won, Associated would sell another 100,00 Kits. Just because it's new does'nt mean it's faster.

The Trakpower 4900 fits fine and I think the batteries are very similar dimensions (Trakpower 23mm high)

Maybe, BUT newer does usually mean more adjustable, better durability, better suited to current technology (LiPo, Brushless), and sometimes lighter where it matters the most (less unsprung weight) and better balanced.

The side benefit of these changes usually means faster in one way or another.

Most of these changes get done for many reasons. One, the customer wants a new feature. Second, that competitve edge.

If the TC3 were still a popular kit, AE would not be selling 1000's of kits, as everyone would already have one, putting 1000's of used cars on the market. All the RC manufacturers have to do things to generate sales to stay in business. If AE said that the TC3 were the last car they would make, somebody else would come along and pick them apart. The irony here is that is almost exactly what happened to AE.
