lowcel, run the smallest spur you can. If you go Xray brand, that means their 104t. There's an aftermarket brand that offers smaller, with about a 96t being ideal for those motors.

Thanks. Will this one work? I'm not sure what it means by offset.

Will a 104/42 fit on it?

I need to buy some spur gears, just not sure where I should start. The only ones that came with the car are a 116 and a 118.
88t for 17.5 in my Fk'05 and I run a 100t for 13.5 in the 008.

Yeah, that's the one. The offset isn't important. The requirements of a spur to work on a T2 are the motor screw access holes (the big ones near the outside) and the Y-pattern layshaft screw holes.

Hi! I am planning to buy a used box stock T2008 and will be racing 3800 Orion LiPo 13.5 rubber on asphalt

With the EU 6cell version, I have a few questions before I buy the kit

1. Are there modifications/optional parts needed to the car to make it competitive? (ie i have read about the pulley upgrade, is it needed?)
2. What spares will I usually need to carry on a race day?
3. Will standard, aftermarket spurs and pinions, not the thin xray ones, fit on the car? (i still have my standard 64P pinions and spurs)
4. Is the kit shocks good, compared to aluminum shocks of other cars?

I am worried about these because I know that xray parts are expensive compared to parts for my previous car and I would not like to be over my budget with spares and modifications by buying this car

Thanks

A 96 tooth spur will fit the bill for both classes. I'd get more than one in case you strip the teeth off the spur (if the motor comes loose, it will shear the teeth off the spur in no time.) For pinions, VTA would require probably 34 - 38, and 17.5 up to about 43. No need to go below 34 or above 43 in either case.

96 spur, 35 - 38 tooth pinions. With a 96 tooth spur, a 35 tooth gives you 4.6, 38 gives you 4.29 FDR.
