Should BRUSHED motors be allowed in the stock class?
So we all know that the 13.5 sintered is faster then a brushed motor on almost any track. At what point do we stop allowing these slow brushed stock motor guys in the stock class and go all brushless at the club level?
Note: this is only a half serious thread and fully controversial

Well I can say that at my HOME tracks, Brushed is whipping up on the Brushless/lipo guys!!
So run both together until they can win on a normal basis..LOL

Based on driving experience or the equipment? Last carpet season locally there was a gentlemans agreement among the "fast guys" to only run brushed motors. It became the great equalizer. Those of us that were normally 3 laps behind them were now only 1 (when running brushless). I dont see those guys holding out on brushless much longer though.
So my fear, fast guys go to brushless 13.5 (running like a 19T brushed) and are racing against the brushed stock middle of the pack guy and you get some major collisions on the straightaway

perhaps the brushless motors could be modified to fit a set of brushes and springs on them to work as friction pads to slow them down to brushed stock motor speeds - that would make things fair

Ive seen faster brushed motor cars then brushless. But it was on a very large track and at just below the point of failure. On a tight carpet track from what I can tell a brushed motor is much slower. Plus, what % of racers have a fully tuned stock motor and have it geared optimally. Less then 10%? The rest of us are just guessing.
Im surprised by all the brushed is as fast as brushless comments. Most of this board is filled with people whining about how much faster brushless is

My fastest lap down a the World right now is a 9.8 in brushed. Chuck got down to a 9.8 with a 13.5 sintered/timing up/1.50 roll out. He is a good midpack racer, but is absolutely flying right now and will be competing for top spots (normally 1-2 laps off the pace). He can completely blow a turn and it makes no difference.

most of the people at my local tracks right now run brushless but yet i do run brushed im normally in the top5. even a not that good tuned brush motor can be faster than brushless but brushed motors fall off where brushless doesnt. i would say lets get rid of brushless but some people like me just dont have the money to throw it out on a brushless motor system.

I would not say brushed motor is DEFINITELY slower then brushless 13.5....I have seen a lot of tunned brushed motor running and none of the 13.5 can take any advantage over them. Just hope there is a rule saying let them both run at the same STOCK class..........that would be great.
