Default Novak 13mm Sintered Rotor

http://www.teamnovak.com/products/rotors/index.html

More tuning options for brushless are upon us. This should be good...

The only question that matters is, how does the performance with this rotor compare to the other two?

Novak seems to think it's improved, especially for on-road. I guess we'll see once it comes about. Having the motors be more forgiving with gearing will be nice. I find, with the 13.5, it'll pull just about any gear imaginable, but there's a very small window where it's at its fastest. Over or under, it's about the same speed, so it's hard as hell to figure out which direction to go.

For all the talk about how tunable brushless motors will be, you see how this was released by Novak? Couldn't any company have released an improved rotor with enough incentive? If it's faster, everybody will want one. You could have charged $50 for a "hotter" rotor and made a jigrillion dollars.

per the Novak press release:
"..improve the motorís initial throttle response.. "

The motors initial throttle response is already too much with my 4.5 and sintered rotor. Why would you want more?

IIRC, people from novak have posted here that the airgap on the current crop of motors is what it is to keep them on a somewhat level playing field with the brushed competitors. maybe with the newer BL motors coming into the market, this optional arm will help the novak motors close any performance defecit there may be (or percieved to be)?

So is it the same materials and design, but the magnet diameter is a little larger? Can someone hit an existing Novak magnet with a caliper or micrometer? If it really is just bigger diameter, the 13.5SS will probably have to be geared even higher, as it'll lower the kV.

I came up with 12.28mm
It says on there site improved magnetic material.?

Cooler runs and more drag. Sounds sweet.
I've been running 20 minute mains and the Novaks are the only one that seem to be close enough in design for that kind of run time. With the fan and capacitor. And with the new rotor it will most likely be even more efficient. I hope.
Racing a 4300 sintered GTB 20 minutes off road, the temps getting as high as 135 degrees.

Sweet wrap one up I'll take it.

Who ever said it would be cheaper??? Talk about a strawman argument. Easier, better - yes; Cheaper - Who cares? Personally I've never been one to whine and complain about product improvements. Were there complaints when Orion released their V2 motors, when the co27 came out, etc, etc? We could always stick to sealed motors and nobody would complain right? Oh wait this is RC, that's half the fun...

If I decide I want this product, I think I might be able to get those 3 pesky screws out and switch it. Much more difficult than whipping out the lathe huh?

On a more serious note, what's your take on offroad use? Any performance advantage there or not needed?
