Because the rear end design comes out of the old HPI Road Star and Super F1.
If you want to stiffen the car, Doup Powell (PRC) makes a conversion kit (for this conversion kit...), which is way more stiffer.

The bumper, front end, rear pod, damper tubes (on the last set of pictures) are made by Kawada.
This conversion kit is actually designed for that car and the L3/4.
On the stock (customer) version of the Hammer there are holes made in the radio tray for the Kawada damper tubes (in general they are shorter than others).

That chassis isn't new, Atsushi is always testing new things (as every team driver).
Just take a look at the pictures that I posted earlier. On some of them you can see clearly that there is some material removed between the battery slots to lighten the car.
Sorry to say but the pics you posted, I posted them back in 2003. There is a difference between lightening a part and/or giving it a bit more flex than a completely new chassis. The AH kit is made for AE based cars and not for the Kawada. On these last pics the only parts that are compatible with the production Hammer are some rear suspension parts.

You are right, those pictures are taken from the 2003 japanese nationals.
Aren't the front ends of the Kawada and AE just about the same.
There is a difference in the upperarms and caster blocks, and the kawada front end has extra holes to make it compatible with an AE based chassis, but you can't mount a AE front end on a Kawada based chassis.
Anyway, I guess you can always speculate about what a "new" chassis is...

Hey guys I just broke my rear pod plate by flipping into a steel pole tonight.
Where can I get a replacement o.g. or aftermarket?

PRC sells a better replacement chassis for the Hara Hammer. Just look bacl a few pages or do a search for Dpowell. He can help you out. I have tried to get a replacement chassis and rear pod plates but Hot Bodies doesn't seem to want to sell them seperately. I have had my LHS become a dealer for them and Ihave not got a part yet, and this was about a year ago.

It looks nice, but again he goes with a thin chassis. It looks like a 2mm thick chassis. What is with using 2mm chassis? It also looks like kydex instead of grahite.

although the straight black carbon fiber look like 2mm chassis but the flex will be more likely 2.5mm flex because last time Hara was having this kind of carbon to made his pro 4 chassis to run DHI, JMRCA, and Reedy Asia. and what he say is it lightweight and the flex are same as 2.5woven graphite chassis.

Looks like Hara is going for the trusty Asso style car for carpet and not the Kawada wish probably is as good or even better on asfalt. Also you have hundreds of manufacturers who make part for Asso and that's not the case with any other brand car.
That new chassis it a copy of the old HPI chassis wich you can also see on page one. Differences are: small screws for front body mounts, larger cut outs beneath the front suspension, servo mount on a separate aluminium deck, and large battery slots for Asso RC12L4 plastic battery supports.
