Any doubts I had about the strength of this chassis are gone now. I smacked som boards HARD today, hard enough in the third round to pop the endbell out of the motor. Even running the last minute of the run with the power WAY down I managed to qualify second on the grid in the A. I did have a 59 lap TQ run going when the endbell popped off... Had to settle for second.

I ran all three qualifiers with the same battery pack... this wasn't even a race pack, it was four loose 3300's that I'd built as a receiver battery for one of my helicopters. I had no race packs, so I stuck it in the car and abused the snot out of it all day. In the main, Drew (who took TQ) was kind enough to loan me a GREAT pack. We ran nose to tail for most of the main, trading the lead back and forth until around the 7 minute mark, then I got stuck on a board and Drew went by for the win.

I'm VERY pleased with this car... it worked GREAT right out of the gate, no chasing the setup necessary. It's as fast as my Rev3, maybe a bit better steering going in to the corners. I need to settle down a bit, I was a bit twitchy on the wheel today. Probably a combination of trying to get used to a new radio and not having driven on a small track in five years or so.

Next week is a trophy race, I hope the turnout is BIG.

Thanks again to JDXray for pointing me to the car for sale, and thanks again to gc2005 for the great deal.
Hey man no problem,

Sorry couldnt make it out to the track today, but sounds like you did kick ass.

Drew is very good with his 12th scale, always/if not the top 12th scaler there.

But it sounds like you ran really well today if you have any questions with the kit on setups let me know i am really the only one there who drives that kit besides a few others who try and make it out there.

Is South Shore open on friday nights over the summer? If so i think ill be able to make it a couple times during the summer, if not i am going to start making my way out there a little more now.

I wont be there next week for the End of the year finally trophy race unfortunally, for me the season ended last week since i couldnt get out.

Jon

South Shore will be racing on the carpet Friday nights all summer long. I'll try and get out as much as I can, but I'm starting a new job this week and I may not be able to get out there in time to race on Fridays.

Almost forgot to mention...

I picked up a set of the CRC lowered rear pod plates... I had thought that I'd heard that IRS made them for CRC, but they look quite different than the IRS ones, and I'm not noticing any binding of the rear axle at all.

This is going to sound pretty weird, but here goes...

On the right side I have two thin steel shims, then a glow plug washer. With TRC rims I add a thick Bolink plastic shim to compensate for the offset.

On the left side, it's just a glow plug washer and the bolink shim if I'm runing TRC's.

I try to run the rear right at 170mm width.

LOL yes very werid, never heard anything like that. I am running 2 shims on right side and 3 on the other and its pretty even. I might want to try a few more to make the wheelbase wider.
