Perhaps, I'm misinformed concerning forum etiquette, but I have been laboring under the impression that this other forum is where manufacturers' maintain their "official" marketing threads:

Team and Company Discussions

Or, am I mistaken?

Schumacher policy (and I beleive the policy of the boards here as well) is we don't talk about our competing products within other companies' threads, and I'd appreciate it if you'd give us the same courtesy here.

Thanks,

Im just passing on info i have been given by Speedpassion themselves.

Yes, I understand. Speed Passion might have wanted them to build one with lower specs. Can anyone take a picture of the inside goodies, specially the MOSFETs? Just to see how the components stack up.

Finally got my 10.5 this morning. Thanks for all the help guys!
Gonna start at 5.8 for an indoor carpet track, rubber tyre - quite fast with a long straight. Too low? or about right? What go you think?

I would say that's on the really conservative side with a SP10.5. After that test run you could easily go another 2-4 maybe 5T depending on your track size.

Shawn/Adam.

Just copy the decals Toni Rhienhard has on his car at the DHI Cup!!

lookin at the spec sheet @ speedpassion.net, SP motors are less wattage but higher rpm than others on the market. could this be why the initial runs people are sayin to motors are slower?

If you are compariing to the Novak motors (sintered rotors) that might makes sense. Shawn could explain the difference between running/power/etc with different size rotors.

All I know is you can't gear a SP motor like a Novak or it will seem slow. I know myself and others have been gearing them higher. My SP 10.5 is geared below 5.00 at this point

Close up of Jilles G's car at DHI Cup thanks to RedRc.net

Thats good to know Nexus, thanks. I arrived at the gearing based on others running Novak motors at our track running 5.8 so with the Sp I should be running closer to 5.0 to get the speed out of it?

The SpamPassion motors seem to be more akin to Novak's "Light" series. Maybe they're using smaller gauge wire? It drops the torque but retains the top speed, which can be more drivable depending on the grip level. If you look at Novak's spec chart and compare say, the 3.5 to the 3.5 Light, the light version has the power (torque?) of a 5.5 with the RPM of the 3.5.

So they should be geared lower than the equivalent Novak?

i.e. For the sake of argument, if the Novak is running 5, would the SP motor need 4.7 or 5.3?

I know those numbers are not directly relevant, but it would be nice to know roughly how to gear them to begin with.
