Exclamation Heat Shrinking Loose Cells.

I'm about to build a couple of saddle packs for my 414M, and was wondering if I should heat shrink the individual cells before I build them, I was told you should do this to prevent a short circuit, if the carbon plate chassis cuts the cell's and comes in contact with them. Do you guy do this to you cars, such as the 414M, TB evo and other cars with carbon plate chassis.
Thanks.

of cuz, i always do that with my saddle pack !!!
it serve two purposes :
/1. prevent the cells being cut and short by the graphite chassis
/2. after solding the cells, i use instant glue to fix the cell together. the wrapping can be removed easily next time when i have to rebuild the saddle pack, otherwise, you have to cut the cells cover directly to separate the cells.

I also shrink my cells. It keeps them looking nice, and if the shrink gets messed up, just re-shrink it.

Like enest said, If you glue the cells together ( i don't.. personally ) its a good idea to use shrink. If ou decide to do something different with the cells, just cut the shrink and take the cells out.

For the price ( less than $5 to do 6 cells ) It's definately worth it.

i recommend heat shrink for individual cells. i glue the cells together because it makes them a hold up better in a crash and if i take the cells apart, the original heatshrink wont be damaged. if youre using matched cells, itll also protect the original label and keep the cells looking new.

Trinity has a set of 100 cell sized heat shrinks for $5. Cheap and a lot.

I wish I had heat shrunk the 2400 cells I bought. It got dirty, and is starting to tear maybe on the area where it makes contact with the carbon fiber.

Yeah, Also someone makes a roll of the shrink. I think Racer's Edge, but im not positive.

It's pretty long though, I don't even think you would need that many...

rccarracer, I also used heat shrink for my cell.
It will keep your cell clean and neat. However, I don't use instant or CA glue. I use Shoe Goo, so you do not have to change the shrink everytime you rebuild the pack.
